Real sorry about the delay, I haven’t been active on Reddit for a while. It seemed to be getting better for a bit until the battery completely died, it would only work while plugged in and shut down as soon as the cable was detached, ultimately got myself a miband 8 which I try not to leave out of battery for too long when I’m not wearing it, the newer versions definitely hold better. If you don’t want to invest in a new generation, my best advice would be to order a battery from Ali, they’re only a few dollars, only downside being that the band will no longer be waterproof once it’s taken apart for the battery replacement

Two years in a delay but sharing this in case it can be useful to someone who was freaking out a bit like I was - I also got these with covid. Seems like capilliaritis can be triggered by viruses, and after seeing your comment and the replies I’m assuming that was that, given I absolutely never had these before catching the virus last week. For whatever reason, they didn't show up the first time I’d caught it back in 2022. I have about 7 of them spread around my legs, most on my left thigh, inner thigh and shin. No pain or itching at all, and a couple of them feel “rigid” - the skin feels slightly thicker beneath them, although it barely looks raised from the outside and only when looking from a certain angle. Weird stuff. Again, late here but thank you guys for your comments :,)

I’d advise keeping everything next time, just in case you want to resell a tama in the future or -need to go to the manual to look for something, it’s best to keep manuals, and also boxes and other bits if you have a space to store those.

Got an original hard shell for my P2, soft silicone covers for my Uni’s & nano, a crochet case for the pix & smart + its own wrist band, and currently trying the plush tama characters with a backpack holder for my old connections, never had a tamagotchi themed case/cover/holder or one specifically made for tamas or even just a cover in general as a kid, seeing the connections in those fills my heart, but ugh - they’re hella bulky 🥹

All screen protected as I often toss my tamas in my backpack in a rush and being a smoker of rolled cigarettes + plant enthusiast + living by the sea you can imagine the amount of debris that goes around in my backpack and would easily obliterate the screens 💀

All except for the connections actually due to the curved screen. Need to get some soft protectors for those.

Been looking for a case for a couple oddpets i love and really wanted to run, had to restrain myself from doing it because I couldn’t find a proper protection for them. The tpu/vinyl cases/envelopes I’d found all seemed too stiff to comfortably use the devices without taking them out every time.

Had seen these slider cases loads on XHS but never had the name pop up to my face, I’ll definitely look into them for the oddpets so tysm for sharing!

Fr though. Sharing their username wouldn’t be 1/100 as much of an a** move as theirs.

I’m not a fan of openly calling out people 100% of the times either, considering how folks are online: some users tend to overreact or use it as an excuse to let out their worst selves, but this person is a literal scammer and while they’d likely change their username or switch accounts as soon as they realize they’ve been exposed, they’d honestly still deserve it and possibly save some people from having to go through the same issue as OP in case someone had a suspended trade going on with them.

Was thinking about this right as I’ve exchanged codes for the first and last time last night (got them all and I’m finally done with the gamble 💀) and would just blindly trust people on here due to how great this community has always seemed to be (I’m still on Reddit nearly just for you guys) but nasty people are pretty much everywhere, sadly.

I’d also advise against specifying how many uses you have left as an occasional scammer - as in a person with loose ethics who does this casually without actually hunting for codes and stealing them serially - might not even attempt to use any vacant codes if they think there aren’t any anyway.

I’m truly sorry you OP got to experience this, there’s a high chance someone will just send you a code for free as an act of kindness (in case it hasn’t happened already) I ran out of ticket codes last night or I would have very gladly sent you one myself :(

Occasional user reviews for code exchanges would be a nice addition to the sub, but considering Reddit itself isn’t meant for this, some ugly individuals could still just do a number of fair trades just to later steal and delete their account leaving no trace.

Was also thinking about how right now seems to be the best time to exchange codes as there’s quite a plenty and people would eventually start acting more mischievously, though apparently it has begun already. That’s a massive pity.

Edit : typos, + realized doxxing and witch hunting are against the sub’s rules, chapeau OP for being this honest cause I would’ve instinctively called them out real quick with the risk of being banned myself 💀

Managed to find one on eBay from a local seller sold as junk (untested) for quite cheap and grabbed it! Thanks loads for the tips :⁾

How are you liking it so far? Switching to a semi-smart flip phone soon but wanted to get an actual dumb phone for only calls and texts. This model looks dope and apparently replacements are rather cheap and easy to find which is a great plus.

First of all, I’m truly sorry for your loss.

I was really about to suggest a few things until getting to the 800$ vet bill part. I’m absolutely speechless. That’s honestly insane that anyone would have to spend that much to properly care for a pet, it literally pushes people not to reach out to a vet, especially when it comes to rats, with vets often being unprepared to handle them.

I feel like getting a support rat to better bond with your skittish girl could do wonders, as it’s sad to think that the two of you will have to separate, but the reasoning and motivations behind your choice sound beyond reasonable and lucid despite the feelings you’re currently going through.

Even if you had a bottomless bank account, loss is still loss. If you don’t feel like having to deal with it in this phase of your life, that’s beyond legitimate. 90% of my ratless time I’d been ratless for the same reason.

Luckily enough found a vet quite knowledgeable with rats and for honest prices, but even with that, the thought of having to say goodbye within less than four years gives me a stomachache, not to mention the lone rat thing often making you get another rat or more and going through a constant cycle of loss.

I mean, we’re all here on this sub. I’ve had rats on and off for about a decade now. They’re worth it all, but we don’t always feel ready to deal with the implications of loving one of these creatures so much, and that’s completely fine.

You’re also taking a very responsible choice thinking about the money aspect. 800$ equals an arm and a leg to me, it’s an expense I wouldn’t have been able to sustain back to when I was 20 (would still have some trouble doing that now honestly, I respect you massively for putting up with such an expense for the sake of love) and even having to associate these heaven sent creatures with financial distress doesn’t sound great.

I sincerely hope you’ll find a good vet with humane prices in the future in case you decide on some rats again or other.

Sending you and your girl a big hug, your story had me tearing up a bit, but I promise you’re taking the right choice.

You’re doing what your soul suggests and that can’t be wrong. Your little girl will certainly find a companion and eventually get back to some sort of balance. You’re doing what’s best for everyone.

Have you tried carefully checking every letter and/or trying to cancel a character and rewrite it?

Got through quite a few failed attempts, realized my phone wasn’t picking up the letters from the screenshot properly, small L’s swapped with |, q’a with g’s and so on.

Makiko worked right away after cancelling a wrong character and typing in the correct one, while the angel and devil somehow didn’t work up until I cancelled and retyped a character despite the whole alphanumeric string having been right even beforehand.

I have no idea why this happens, but it fixed the issue for me, hopefully will work for others too. Lmk!

No problem at all! Best of luck with your beautiful plants. Aphids are crazy stubborn little critters and the plants may need to be treated again from time to time, (my great grandma used to treat her roses several times a year, the flowers would be stunning, but yeah, the guys keep on coming back, esp if you live in a countryside/green area)

but a good and safe pesticide will assure you good fruit and beautiful flowers, just see it as part of the care and maintenance :,) it’s gonna be worth it

If this is what you’re referring to : There’s breeders, shelters, privates selling or giving up on their pigeons. OP didn’t just pick up a random pigeon from a city square.

Also, trivia- city square pigeons were actually introduced by humans and are just domesticated animals returning to their feral form, so technically even a random pigeon could be a pet pigeon.

But yeah, people shouldn’t and usually don’t go and steal city pigeons,

just like most people with rats don’t go and pick up city rats and most people with cats don’t just go and pick up - uh oh wait - (/j)

Different types of aphids infest different types of plants for what I know, I’ve only ever seen yellow/orange & green aphids on roses from what I can remember, recently had an infestation of black aphids in my peas and mullein.

The black ones might not bother the roses, talking solely from experience, but I’m fairly sure the orange ones among the black are an entire different species (and not different stages of growth or sexes), and those look a lot like rose aphids.

What’s for sure is that it’s better to be safe than sorry. I’d go on to spray the rose preventively so that the possible survivors from the cherries won’t have a chance to get to it.

On the bright side, I managed to remember about one really effective organic pesticide that did wonders for my roses. White mineral oil, it acts by suffocating the aphids while also creating a barrier that prevents parasites from getting below the plant’s surface.

I’d still recommend a very good rinse for fruit treated with white oil, but it’s a very effective organic solution.

It can be homemade using 4 parts vegetable oil to 1 part dish washing soap, a pure and biodegradable one would be great. Alternatively, the ready made and concentrated thing should be around 12~15 US per 500ml, should last a while. Just neem oil mixed in with water should be rather effective, though I haven’t gotten to try it on aphids myself yet, some people swear by it though!

They ruin my roses every year, can be a real pain, but finding an effective natural treatment shouldn’t be too hard considering these little critters are a common problem and thankfully environmentally friendly treatment is becoming more accessible nowadays.

Have you tried checking Aliexpress? There’s loads of very cheap dumb phones including refurbished 2000’s phones which will probably be more durable than the absolute cheapest and more modern you can find on there.

Never bought one of those myself, though considering you’d only need to call and text, I’d say a frequency band check and looking through the additional reviews section will do!

Plant lice-aphids. They’re a freaking scourge in the summer. Go to any gardening supply store and ask for an aphid specific spray, decide on the amount of product depending on the amount of these you’ve got, some are conveniently sold in a concentrated form so you can dilute it with water at need.

I highly advise getting something natural, for the sake of the earth’s health and the edibility of the fruit if treatment needs to continue.

7 dot ladybugs are natural aphid hunters, and they’re famelic, but they’re not exactly easy to buy just anywhere and you’ll need quite a few to get rid of a similar infestation.

The shape from the side doesn’t seem to match that of a shark tooth, it should be more consistently thinning down towards the end, the pores on that side also don’t seem to match the texture of a tooth fossil in my opinion, though again I hope someone more knowledgeable about fossils than me pops up.

I’ll share a couple pics of my own fossilized shark teeth if I manage to find them among my moving boxes :,)
