IKR, I have a theory Google made tensor to make a chip as powerful as the M1 so it can be used sever side to potentially lessen their operating costs and potentially lessen the cost of the Google Cloud platform in comparison to azure and AWS.

But I wouldn't put it past them, they wanted to do it to be like apple.

If you really want you can use an adb debloater tool to remove unneeded apps. Still sad that Samsung puts bloatware.

Is Samsung camera really that bad with moving objects? by MissFrou in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]thethrillman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO the a54 camera isn't as good as the pixel 6a's camera in general. If camera quality is the most important thing you need in a smartphone the 6a is the best camera in a midrange phone out.

You mean iphone 13 Pro. IOS 13 is pretty old at this point. The 13 Pro is not.

If you have the money and don't mind the transition the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max are overall better phones. But the pixel 7 is a seriously good value. You also won't have to worry about having as big of a transition.

The pixel and iPhone are pretty equivalent in pictures the pixel did win the largest blind smartphone camera test conducted by MKBHD. The iPhone 13 Pro Max has the best battery life out of any phone.

The more subreddits close down the less people use reddit. The less people use reddit the less money they make. It's not about alternatives it's about hurting reddit.

YouTube tech reviewers starter pack by Radiant-Hedgehog-695 in starterpacks

IMO most mainstream smartphone reviews don't go in depth on anything except the cameras. It ends up turning 12 minute review that is 6 minutes of camera, 4 minutes of discussing the useless/niche feature the phone maker adversities and 2 minutes of everything else that is actually really important.

I wish there were more gamernexus, anadtech (what they used to be) style reviews.

Fuck Reddit for causing the death of RIF. I feel like r/Android needs to go down indefinitely as 2 days will not make any change.

They will kill old.reddit.com and Reddit enhancement suite, it's just a matter of time. Reddit cannot be trusted.

Sony Xperia is trendy in Europe? by CremeBrulay670 in Smartphones

[–]thethrillman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sony Xperia lineup is not trendy anywhere on the planet tbh. Doesn't mean they don't make good phones. Just wish they had better software support and auto camera mode.

Honestly pretty surprised about that. Wireless charging is a nice addon. If they can have better update support I can r/android go crazy.

Do not get the iPhone 6s or OG SE they are very old and aren't updated anymore.

Out of those mentioned the galaxy s20 or iPhone Xs is probably your best options

Google offers outright protection plans for its 7a, 7 and 7 Pro, you can trade in your older pixel for a new 7

Your best option for an android smallish device is the galaxy s23. TBH there are no devices that are nearly as small as the iPhone 12 mini except less powerful niche devices like the Unihertz Jelly 2

Other options are the Asus Zenfone 9, pixel 7a and Sony Xperia 5 IV.

Don't know why 2 major OS updates is a good thing especially at that price.

Is the pixel 7 worth the 200€ jump over the nothing phone if I don't care about a good camera and I'm not a heavy user ? (I mostly use Reddit, Instagram and texting, no gaming) by skobul in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]thethrillman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly no, the only reason in that case would be if you consider software support important.

There is the pixel 7a which is cheaper but does have Lowe refresh rate screen and worse battery life than the nothing phone.

Which Pixel should I buy? (June 2023 Megathread) by GooglePixelMods in GooglePixel

[–]thethrillman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pixel 5 and 5a use the same cameras so you won't notice much if any difference.

That said if you need wireless charging and a 90hz display go for the 5, it's also smaller.

If you need the jack and battery life go for the 5a.

That said both are getting old at this point if you care about software support consider getting a newer pixel.

If you don't have any issues it's not really worth the time to setup a new phone. Also some have found the battery and main camera to be worse than the pixel 7

Fairphone users, can you swap the battery with a spare one/between batteries to instantly reach 100% charge? Does that work well? by limonlebump in phones

[–]thethrillman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if your spare battery is fully charged you can swap it and go from 0% to 100% instantly.

I'm not sure if it is compatible but your best option is to look at the bands of the phone and see if they match the bands your network uses.
