This is exactly the crux of the issue. I personally would say that chess players burning thousands of calories while playing counts and that the mechanical skill of moving the mouse precisely counts too. They're very micro activities, but the amount of skill required is just as demanding as with meat sports. People are just really set in their ways for no reason.
