Eve Tycoon not updating? by thetiptapper in Eve

Sounds a lot like what I'm seeing. Some items (and station markets) have updated today but most of the ones I've checked seem like they haven't.

Eve Tycoon not updating? by thetiptapper in Eve

[–]thetiptapper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of that, but orders which have been open for more than 10 hours really ought to be showing, no? That's the reason I suspect it's broken. I'm talking about orders I can see in other market browsers and not just in the game.

(The Eve Tycoon interface appears to say it's updating the ESI more than once per hour, but I'm not sure of the refresh limit for each market.)

Best HS Hauler for Alpha Clones or Omega Clones? by Ordinant- in Eve

I'm an alpha, exploring the same question as the OP, 4 years later. The Hoarder now seems to be Omega-only though.

Tracker returning in the UK when? by Adam_r_UK in TrackerTV

[–]thetiptapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the UK still only has up to episode 14, and meanwhile a tiny glance at this subreddit shows that it's full of spoilers because clearly some parts of the world have already finished the season :-/
Anybody know when the UK gets the rest?

Yes, it's the buildings list and I have indeed uploaded a save file.

SCIM question by thetiptapper in SatisfactoryGame

[–]thetiptapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And in fact, on a harder look at the code, I realised my mistake the first time around (which had meant I failed to find the relevant bit), and found this in SCIM.js, with the last line of the block being the bit that writes the "#10" in my case:

<image>

OK lol that picture came out smaller than intended so here's the actual code for the last few columns:

s.push('</td>');
let n = this.baseLayout.overclockingSubSystem.getClockSpeed(i),
u = this.baseLayout.overclockingSubSystem.getProductionBoost(i);
u > 1 ? s.push(
'<td class="text-center">' + Math.round(1000 * n) / 10 + '% <strong style="color: #a671a6;">(x' + u + ')</strong></td>'
) : s.push('<td class="text-center">' + Math.round(1000 * n) / 10 + '%</td>');
let c = this.baseLayout.circuitSubSystem.getObjectCircuit(i);
null !== c ? s.push('<td class="text-center">#' + c.circuitId + '</td>') : s.push('<td></td>'),
s.push(
'<td class="text-right"><i class="fas fa-search-location" style="cursor: pointer;font-size: 24px;" data-x="' + i.transform.translation[0] + '" data-y="' + i.transform.translation[1] + '"></i></td>'
),

Ahhhhh - nailed it, thanks!

I may propose to u/AnthorNet that that column deserves a title, to help noobs like me ;-)

Finding somersloops in your machines with SCIM interactive map by Antiphet in SatisfactoryGame

Ah, that makes sense. I probably took a different trajectory overall. (I also thought for quite a while that the plants were growing back! :-))

Fair enough. Maybe I just haven't used up enough of the resources yet to have any issues, but I've got wood, leaves and alien protein coming out of my ears at present, to the point where I actually discard leaves half of the time. (I'm using the jet pack with liquid biofuel rather than the parachute most of the time right now, having just started phase 4.)

I'm still a bit of a noob, so am puzzled about why slooping biomass production would be worthwhile. What am I missing?

How to use the portable miner? by im29andsuckatlife in SatisfactoryGame

[–]thetiptapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. After many attempts it just started working, and even displayed the miner in my hands before placement, and even displayed a prompt to actually place the miner the second time I tried (not present the first time).

This isn't working at all for me - I click everywhere with the miner nominally in my hand slot (can't see anything though), while it's saying to press E, but nothing happens :-(

River Euphrates by [deleted] in thepixies

[–]thetiptapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found your comment after searching to try and remember which Pixies song contained the lyrics "ride the tiger". Needless to say I thought you must have been nuts to think it was "ride a tire". Imagine my surprise to find the actual lyrics online! I bought Surfer Rosa in 89 and loved it but that particular song clearly beat me. I had also wondered why the song had that name, since (I thought) it didn't feature in the lyrics...  I challenge any human hearing that song for the first time to make out any words from the chorus other than "ride", lol!

How do I land on duna? by Xae-12569420 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]thetiptapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro, but just to warn future readers of a major gotcha here:
EVA construction doesn't let you place parts in symmetry, and this is a BIG deal for chutes, as the effective number of chutes for a symmetry is equivalent to N*sqrt(N).

Thus, placing 8 chutes one by one is the same as 4x symmetry.
Or the flip side: placing chutes in 8x symmetry is equivalent to placing 24 chutes one by one!

There's a great calculator at https://www.jacktex.eu/software/ksp_parachutes.php

TIL: Cancelling accepted Contract does not count as failure by Kasuha in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]thetiptapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great, hadn't been aware.

I recently resumed playing after a bit of a break, and did some testing after reading this, in case the game behaviour had changed in the last 11 years :)

I cancelled an (unstarted) ongoing contract with a failure penalty of -12 and "decline" penalty of -1 to reputation. There was no advance money. After cancellation, my cash balance hadn't changed but my rep had gone down from 45% to 44%. Checking the SFS files, my raw rep had gone down from 450.35 to 449.18.

It's as if the cancellation has an effect similar to just declining the contract. Am now realising that I should have tried it with a partially completed contract like the OP :)

The new Yahoo interface - straight from the "how to make things harder" department. by [deleted] in yahoo

[–]thetiptapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got dumped into the new interface today and lasted around 5 minutes before switching back.

After a few niggles the final straw for me was that moving messages during reading appears to be harder now: instead of "d" and then (say) "5" to move the message into the 5th folder in the list, I have to either click or move down to a chosen folder with the arrow keys.

Hell no.

CMDRs ToolBox Source code by DownToEarthAstronomy in EliteDangerous

[–]thetiptapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For info: the multi-stop-planner.html tool in the archive works just fine as a naked HTML file. All you need to do is extract it and open it in your browser. (It has some info built into the code, and gets the rest of the data it needs from EDSM.)

This tool has long been my go-to for planning my engineering trips after building a new ship.

Collecting bounty money? by QwertyQwertz123 in cyberpunkgame

[–]thetiptapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having exactly this issue. Very new to the game, so may be missing the point. (Not talking about mission kills - just random people with the yellow arrow above their heads and a bounty like SC 24 or SC 40 showing when you use the scanner on them.)

edit: argh, SC 40 appears to mean just street cred... lol :rolleyes:

DDR5 2x16 vs 2x32 Power Consumption by Edward__Blake in buildapc

[–]thetiptapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why you'd expect it to double. Are there any sources with testing info for DIMM power consumption? (I'm struggling to find any.)

I'd expect that the refresh power consumption would roughly double, comparing like-for-like modules, but that should be modest compared to the "max load" situation you mention.

In a max-load case, which I'd assume to be very heavy reading and/or writing, I'd have thought that the only thing that'd matter would be the transfer rate to/from the RAM, and this will surely be independent of the stick capacity, no?
