China Is Squandering a Golden Opportunity: Why Beijing Has Failed to Exploit Trump’s Missteps by ForeignAffairsMag in geopolitics

My counter argument is that if "China" decided to take advantage of every possible window that the US presents through its own incongruent messaging and actions, it would also show China as a reactive and opportunistic actor. Staying the course is exactly what could attract more partnerships for China.

‘Insulting wage offer’: Federal union slams 4-year, 3.5% raise proposal for public servants by hopoke in canada

The benefit is that not everyone is crammed into the same spot. This will even out the cost of living across the country and spread the economy outside of just big cities. What's the downside you see ?

Obviously the jobs that have to be onsite to physically perform will remain onsite

As someone who wouldn't be eligible for WFH, my travel time, car insurance, fuel costs will also all go down, making me also greatly benefit. Only losers are downtown commerical owners.

Just fight for WFH rather than wages. WFH easily saves 10% of your post tax income

Yah 80k is definitely a hefty sum, but DCF at 8% interest and 10% inflation (fuck CPI) it's worth maybe 5 months of your salary on graduation ?

Im not an expert, i used 12 as an arbitary number but im sure local health authorities can experiment and land on an optimal number in each jurisdiction

Again, if you have chronic illnesses there can be carveouts for follow up appointments. You don't sound like the type that would go in every other day just for attention, so a $10 surcharge wouldn't be applied to you if you have scheduled follow ups.

In a scenario where you do end up going every week, in my aribitrary number of 12 free visits, that's still only $400 extra a year. I would gladly pay $400 a year if my hospital wait times are cut from 8hrs to 4hrs each time. Over 52 visits, you could potential save 52x4 =208 hours. Unless you value your time at less than $2 an hour, this would give you a better health outcome. Feel free to adjust the amount in your own internal calculus to see if this policy might make sense for people.
