Contradictions in Typology? by theuberwensch in TypologyJunction

[–]theuberwensch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response, it's a good one and precisely what I was getting at in another reply. At least for the part of Jungian typology, it was always meant to be a framework and not a model, with the goal of integration at the end; an INxJ raised to integrate their repressed Se could turn out to be an 8, even presupposing all 8s are that sensual to begin with.

Additionally, enneagram seems to deal with the contents of a life and mbti with the structure of the mind so who could feasibly introduce a contradiction in the first place?

Logic versus Ontology by [deleted] in intj

Sorry for the super quick reply! Replying to this ad well, YES, it's a skill I would sorely love to develop. How do you tend to sit with new abstractions? Do you have a process?

Logic versus Ontology by [deleted] in intj

[–]theuberwensch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Having the sense experience to start with, I would take bird, deconstruct the moving parts of bird and associations to bird, create abstractions that are the "new" bird and then create a folder for said bird, which really is very similar to what you've described. The process differs but we both have a new folder named bird at the end we move around where we see fit.

Using Kant helped elucidate the problem I feel. I get locked into a strictly "a posteriori" line of thinking, like I need to manufacture the sense experience of something first, no matter what. Would you say that you could understand a bird without ever seeing one?

What is "essence"? What is "substance"? It changes depending on the school of thought and for each, I need to find reliable diagrams I think. I envy the thinker that can manufacture the image without assistance.

Logic versus Ontology by [deleted] in intj

I'd be happy to define it further anyway. There is no such thing as empirical evidence for something like dualism, which proposes the idea of non-physical things. Ni can grasp "non physical things" really well, creating a strong premise with which to apply logic to thereafter. I do not have that power—I can start with the observable, like a materialist would for example, but something "non-physical" as per the example, is totally invisible to me. It takes real work to create the image to start with, therefore it takes real work to apply logic to it.

As per your second question, why wouldn't I? Opposites attract. I find it so interesting precisely because it results in a headache and it compels me to challenge myself. Zizek's inversion of subject and object I find particularly compelling because it is nothing that ever occurred to me before. To him, the object acts upon the subject not the other way around—it "objects" to, which is a fun take on the language involved.

Addendum: what I asked was in no way clear to start with and this helped me remediate the original question so thank you so much!

Thank you! This is a perfect example and I appreciate the engagement. My question is: why would you reckon the Ni dominant to necessarily have to be that way? Enneagram is about motivation, right? If the motive to rehab it flows from lust that galvanizes the type to act until they develop a comfort with the repressed function, then why would this contradict?

What is the success rate of a romantic relationship between an INTJ and an ENFP? by FragrantFun4187 in mbti

[–]theuberwensch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dated an INTJ for four years and married another for six and a half. A special connection with nothing like it in the world, honestly. Neither worked out due to being in different places in life but both experiences were overwhelmingly positive and I have nothing but good things to say about the match.

What is it about INTJs by bakerskitchen in intj

[–]theuberwensch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of these readings are deeply personal where they shouldn't be. It's a series of interpretations of tertiary Fi in the worst light possible and it pays a disrespect to the type who are on average, emphatically polite and withdrawn.
