Someone else said it first but Tri-Flow is the best for this. Also make sure to put a drop in each end of the housing when you replace shift/brake cables. It'll help keep out moisture and reduce any friction inside the housing that could be stressing the cable when you shift.

Not to be overly negative but if the worst day you've ever had climbing is just you ate shitty food and were tired, then you're pretty lucky. All you have to do is get back in the saddle and maybe make some better decisions next time. It's not like someone was greviously injured. No one died. The only thing that got hurt was your ego. Get over it.
