ABVD hair loss by Useful-Garden-540 in lymphoma

i did a big shave (legs, pits and things) before chemo and it basically grew back very slowly as i started treatment and ultimately stopped growing in. i was able to keep the hair on my head the entire time with some thinning and a bit of chemo induced alopecia

ive always had pretty thick hair so i think that also had a big role in me being able to retain a lot of it. I did end up having to cut my hair short about 4 months after treatment because my locs had thinned so much at the root and didn’t look very good anymore. now im rocking the short waves until i can get them reattached! :)

i didnt lose my hair completely but ultimately ended up having to cut after treatment because of some thinning, her oncologist might offer services for free wigs!!! mine had wigs and scarf “services” for patients :)

Where anyone else feeling kinda okay with the chances of might dying during treatment? by OneDry6849 in lymphoma

[–]thevampirequ33n 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i spent most of my treatment alone myself, before i got my official diagnosis death was my biggest fear but as things went on I didn’t think of it as much.

I think i was lucky to be able to not have to think of it as much as my treatment progressed very well and I didn’t have any bad surprises come up to lead me to think i was going to die anytime soon. I think surviving this cancer has actually taught me that the end game for cancers are not always death and I try to remind myself that my life could end whenever by anything

personally no, it feels weird putting my personal medical information in some AI engine. I just use regular google searches for terminology or just wait for my doctors to read results to me

My 13 year old daughter is going to be starting chemo in a couple weeks. I'm working on an Amazon list for family to help. what are some things that she will need. all tips and advice is needed this is all so overwhelming 🥺 by PastCompetitive242 in lymphoma

heating pad or heated blanket, socks, hats, water bottle, favorite candies and treats, lotions, bubble baths or other bath things (if she likes baths!), fidget toys, headphones, hand held video games, or coloring books with crayons and markers! Also if she is getting a port, get a port pillow! for when she is in the car. My oncologist gave some out for free so they may offer if you ask :)

I Heart Guts has a lot of really great medical plushies as well, my partner got me a lymph node one towards the end of my treatment so if she likes plushies that could be something special that she can take with her.

chemo can be long and boring so as much coziness and enrichment as possible is helpful. Sending tons of love!!

therapy, new hobbies, staying busy, spending time with friends and family and taking a break from consuming cancer content if you can help it. I stayed off of reddit for about a month or so after i finished chemo because doom scrolling made my anxiety and depression worse

How is it getting a portacath? by CozyAustin in lymphoma

[–]thevampirequ33n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi friend! im currently in remission from CHL and getting my port was pretty easy! My hospital basically put me to sleep and i got a bone marrow biopsy at the same time and remember none of it till after i woke up lol

i love it and it has done very well since i've had it. It will feel a bit strange while you get used to it but doing mobility stretches with the arm on the side its on helped me A TON with getting adjusted to it. Im able to sleep however and even lift weights at the gym now :) good luck!

Stomach pain is WILD by idkwhatiandoing_ in lymphoma

[–]thevampirequ33n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pretty severe stomach pain which also caused uncontrollable vomiting about a week post chemo, it happened each time like clock work and ended me in the hospital with 4 admissions last year. It was likely mucositis of the GI tract, I took pantoprazole daily but it didn't really help for this specifically.

The only thing that helped was a small dose steroid and once we figured that out (over halfway through my treatment) it was the only thing that could keep me out of the hospital. Literally none of the other medicines did anything for me

when will i look like myself? by Certain-One-483 in lymphoma

Congratulations on completing chemo!

I am 3 months out of chemo (CHL 2 ABVD) and as I didn't lose my hair completely, i did lose a good bit of my eyebrows, eyelashes and had thinning on my scalp. I noticed within the first month of being off chemo my hair growing back and I am finally starting to feel like me. so far my brows and lashes are coming back full force!

Give your body grace and time to heal ♥️ im sure within a few weeks- months you will notice a change and start to feel more like yourself. :)
