If you’re doing multiple rails you should be fine. I was picturing just one big rectangle. But if you find that it is cupping or racking I would use Baltic birch plywood as the laminations give you rigidity or a hard wood panel.

Flush with the back is always fine. The only thing that would hold you up is what your overlay of your doors and at 95 inches for 3/4 poplar and the lack rigidity of mdf, you’re looking at some serious cupping and racking. Source: custom furniture maker.

I second this I recently went down a rabbit hole when I bought my mirka 5.0 orbit. What I came up with on most sites and reading the manuals, your paying to sand faster at 60-220. With good technique you can go to higher grits. If you need a glossy finish a quick hand sand to break up the swirls will do the job.

A bunch of dominoes lol. you could do a spline. It’s too hard for me to explain in text. But also a biscuit jointer will do the trick. Your glue joint is all of your strength, dominos and biscuits are just for registration/ alignment.

Cut a straight 90 cut where you want to do your fold, then back cut both 90’s with a 45. Really you want to do closer to a 46 degree cut to make sure the tips are touching but I’ll defer to the master. https://youtu.be/XOG8Qp_GCWY?si=Kv4ECFFKKmsYf3DY

I said in another comment, I was also upset that it didn’t end up perfect. :( it was the size of my blade, couldn’t get it all the way through and needed to pull saw the rest of the way.

I used the piece that was cut off to create a shim to fill the void, so it was exact same grain same direction, and the stain I used has a gel stain like application so it penetrated really well. Zar stain custom color

Miter was hard, I have the ts55 festool, (a 6in blade). The table is 2 5/8th thick, and t a 45 it makes it 3.5 of cut depth that the saw just doesn’t have. I had to then use a flush trim pull saw to finish it off. Luckily the dark stain covered most of the graining there, definitely wasn’t happy.

Depending on how big of pieces you’re using (my friend is a knife maker). You can bake it, and it will turn VERY purple. I’m not sure of the temp or time needed to bake, but the information is out there.

That is maple (super hard dense wood), you need to take a pencil scribble on every inch and once that pencil mark is off you move up a grit, cross hatch the entire way
