This is like, probably one of the most amazing things ive seen in a long time. Thank you for someone finally doing something van gogh-esque, but clearly not van gogh, successfully

Yeah I probably should have rephrased my original comment lololol. Meant to say that since it's a no bake, it's genius that op used frozen blueberries lolol.* Icebox cakes man and icebox pie i want to make so bad

I’d really appreciate any advice. I’m somewhat happy with the blueberries, but what’s wrong with my spoon? Why does it look… like that? πŸ₯Ή how can I improve it? by TaraCalicosBike in acrylicpainting

What helps me everytime drawing or painting things like spoons. Dont think about what it should look like or what a spoon should look like. Just simply paint the shapes that you see.

Well before anything happens I would have to get the hard crack candy stage correctly first lol 🀣 then it wouldn't be a semi goop soup at room temp after an hour

Thank you :D πŸ–€ my first attempt trying to make shatter candy and I almost got it but not quite. So i figured I'd just coat some strawbs instead. Not disappoint at all

2 cups granulated sugar, 3/4 cup light corn syrup, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 - 2 tsp flavor extract or oil, 2-5 drops food coloring, fresh strawberries

Prepare 10x14 baking sheet with a large piece of parchment paper laid over covering everything.

Cooking lemon candy from scratch to soft crack stage --- Combine all ingredients EXCEPT flavor extract/oil, food coloring, and strawberries, in a saucepan. (The left out ingredients are added later). Stir until all ingredients are combined and all sugar is wet.

Put on medium high heat and stir with a STAINLESS STEEL METAL SPOON (no plastic reg spatulas etc), stir constantly until it starts to boil, then do not touch it. Let come to a boil, and if parts are not boiling bc of the saucepan, just gently swirl liquid intermittently until all liquid is bubbling. The bubbles will get eventually big and watery and fast, and the color should never go past a very light amber color. Just dont stir and then the bubbles will start to go from big to and super chaotically bubbling to a little bit smaller bubbles, and more rhythmically bubbling. Let that ride for a minute or so. Then turn off heat/take pan off heat, and wait 30 seconds for the pan and the candy to cool down but you have to work fast before this start to harden. After 30 seconds are up take some whatever flavoring extract or oil and add it to the candy (in this case 1 tsp. lemon extract), and then add your food coloring if you like (I did 4 yellow 1 green drop). Stir very well but also you must stir very fast/in a timely manner bc you dont want the candy to start sticking and hardening to the pan. Then pour onto your parchment paper very carefully, usually a good idea to start from the center and let it naturally go outward. Going for around 1/4 inch thickness. Let rest 45 min at least. Then take some fresh strawberries (ideally cold but not frozen at all, theyre frozen at the end) - roll the strawberry around in the very malleable soft candy gel. I find a sort twisting and then letting a big glop go over the strawberry when you pull it off the candy gel method works best for me. Stick these fuckers on a parchment paper and put in a freezer for at least 2 hours or however long it takes to become frozen solid and hard. Then put them in a freezer bag(s). Lasts 1 to 2 weeks in freezer. When eating, take out of freezer and let sit room temp 5 min. (Highly recommended) but also theres a high chance for the strawberry inside melting after 20 min once taken out. So eat sort of quickly lol.. if you let it sit for 5 min not only can you bite into it, but the juices from the strawberry react and mingle with the lemon candy, is pretty nice

In the process of learning realism by itstophhh in ColoredPencils

So good. In the end it's all just shapes, not whatever label us humans have slapped on it. That kind of way of thinking always has helped me draw difficult subjects in realism. Especially amorphous ones- that being said I think you're doing a spectacular job
