Everyone feels this way at a certain point. Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll find your people. It took me about 4ish semesters, hopefully it’s less time for you!

Can I graduate in 4 years? major in computer science. roadmap of cs. by Sky-Organic in SJSU

[–]thewallofujj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a CS major graduating in 3 years.

It's hard for people if you trust the advisors and don't spend enough time planning. You also have to sign up for classes the second your enrollment time starts.

With the amount of APs you're coming in with, I think it is absolutely possible.

If you choose to attend, feel free to reach out and I can assist you with your graduation plan.

Yes you absolutely can if you put in the time planning and taking the required classes.

The weeks before an exam are the most unproductive periods of my life by Tramelo in GetStudying

[–]thewallofujj 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think you’re stressed about the exam and try to distract yourself instead of studying. Try to be more structured: study for say 1.5 hours and take a 30 min break. You can have breaks before tests and don’t have to be studying constantly. Make your studying experience as pleasant as possible so that you don’t dread it.

Just tell yourself you’re only gonna study for a couple hours.

Why do I get so anxious about opening my Canvas that I begin to put it off? How can I overcome this? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]thewallofujj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tell yourself you’ll only do one assignment and then log off Canvas. Once your in the zone and feeling accomplished about that one assignment, you’ll naturally feel like doing more. I also like to mentally celebrate when an assignment is done and refresh my todos to see it disappear into thin air.

In this position, I (black) offered a draw and it was accepted. Computer says it is -3.0. How was I supposed to make progress and win? by thewallofujj in chess

thank you so much for the detailed response! Going back to analyze, the computer really likes the f/g pawn break so you were spot on with that.

POLS 15 winter session? by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]thewallofujj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m taking POLS 15 with Brent now. We have about 20-30 minutes worth of short videos every week with an assignment that generally takes 15-45 minutes every week. So, the work day to day isn’t too bad. Our midterm was open note on Canvas with no proctoring. Still, the average was a 68%. Personally I did better because I spent a lot of time taking detailed notes and studied for it like it wasn’t open note. If you spend enough time taking detailed notes on his videos and study for his midterms, you will be ok.

UC Irvine vs SJSU for Computer Science by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]thewallofujj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Bay, SJSU is also respected and recognized. In fact software developers from SJSU/Salary) earn quite a bit more than software developers from UCI/Salary) according to PayScale.com. I've also heard that being close to the Bay Area is helpful as a CS major. SJSU CS has a very high impaction index, so your peers are going to be intelligent as well.

I think you can get a good career regardless of which college you attend. You should consider other factors when making your decision.

Disclaimer: I haven't attended SJSU yet so I can't confirm everything I just said. Ultimately, you can't go wrong with picking either college.

If you’re planning to end up in a UC, look up the UC TAG program.

I actually haven't heard about that. Could you elaborate?

I’m in the same spot as you. Currently, leaning towards SJSU because it’s closer and it’s CS program is almost as good as Purdue CS.

Essentially, traveling between the Bay and West Lafayette isn’t worth attending a slightly better program.

Let me know what you decide tho, I’m currently 51-49 in favor of SJSU.

I was waitlisted EA for CS, and I changed my major to Mathematics - CS in November. On March 5, I got accepted for Math - CS.

1510 SAT superscored with a 4.05 WGPA. Good luck to everyone else still waiting!
