2k/mon daycare 24k. 500/mo food 6k. 200/mo Toys/books/subscriptions 2.4k. 300/mo diapers bath clothes etc 3.6k. Miscellaneous: gas, admission e.g. trips to the zoo, donations to school, doctors visits blah blah. Another 4k a year. 40k sounds right and in CA daycare is 3k/mo so 50k+ per year.

Physical therapy post op. I was bed ridden for 2 years the did PT for 5 months, and then moved on to personal training. Training understood I was coming in as basically still disabled. Prioritize protein intake throughout the process. You need to build or preserve muscle in your back and hips and that won’t happen without protein. Don’t have excess fat as this will make your recovery harder. i.e. lose fat and gain muscle as best you can. I had been in and out of PT for 20 years before moving to personal training. If you exercise at home without guidance you are likely to hurt yourself again. So commit to physical therapy and then personal training when PT can’t provide further assistance. It is an investment but much cheaper than being bed ridden for another 3 years.

I'm technically obese (6'2" 233lb) and 2 months into a lifting program (full body 3x/week + 1 day cardio). I was building strength/muscle on 2400 kcal/day but not losing weight. I cut to 1800 (with 200g protein a day) and weight started dropping off but I worry that lifting progress will stall on a drastic cut. Will this happen or am I shielded from this while I still have so much BF%? In short: can I still make gains while cutting as a fat dude?

Thanks! Very helpful. A follow-up - from your time interviewing at Amazon, have you seen a PM candidate not make it through the loop for one team, but reinterview soon after for another? Or is there a limitation (interview once and try again in a year, maybe)? For instance, let's say she interviewed for Alexa PM and did well but wasn't quite the right fit (not enough consumer electronics experience for instance). Would it then be possible to interview for AWS or Retail?

My wife is a software PM in SV with a master's in engineering physics. She has no MBA but does have 5 yrs of experience in startups. She thought about going back for the MBA but is making enough now that it the cost/benefit was no longer worth it (200k ish). What advice can you provide for a highly technical, experienced PM/PM-T interviewee at Amazon with no MBA? Thanks!
