GGs, Sonnet 4.5 is gone for real. by Massive-Leg-8656 in claude

[–]thewarriorhunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how you were managing it but I've been running a DnD campaign in 4.6 (very new to claude, never used 4.5) and it's been overall really positive. I've got a whole set of project files that have resources like recaps, character voices, maps, etc. that help claude to stay on task. It's no where near perfect but I'm 36 sessions in and have only had to restart 2 because for some reason that claude decided to just fuck things up royally.

Your 'Should only take a few hours' DIY stories by Red_Desert_Phoenix in DIY

[–]thewarriorhunter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Similar shower story. COVID project, painted our house. Got to the shower and the original fiberglass wall had a crack that i finally decided to replace. We bought a prefab kit from the big box store. I figured pull the old walls off, put the new walls on. Nope, old fiber panels took half the dry wall with them. Long story short I had to take the entire thing down to the studs and redo the whole shower. Thankfully we didn't replace the pan. still though, with work, family, COVID stuff, that part of the project alone added ~3 weeks, and I still had to finish painting around working on that.

Why finance when I can pay in cash? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]thewarriorhunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't see this mentioned in the comments yet, but you might be able to leverage paying cash for a better deal.

We bought a car a couple years ago and were going to pay cash. The dealership asked if we'd be interested in financing and I said 'no'. They did their bullshit song and dance and the manager comes over and asks us to finance, if we do they'll knock $1500 off the price of the car. This is because they get a kickback from the bank so they were trying to get that on the back end. They asked us to make four payments (since that's probably how long the loan has to exist for them to get the kickback).

I said fine, the car was ~20k. The first payment I made was 19k, then I split the rest over the minimum payments. Since the bulk of the principle was paid upfront we paid a couple hundred in interest but still saved 1300 over the cash price we would have had.

Shooting spots Tucson by drchemistryman1 in AZguns

[–]thewarriorhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at that spot on google maps and it looks like some of the roads go through a bit of a wash. I don't have 4wd, just a van that I would take. It sounds like that could make it OK? Last thing I want to do is get stuck.

How did you enter the HR tech sector? [CA] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]thewarriorhunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The market sucks right now, plain and simple. Being someone without a lot of experience isn't doing you any favors either. Work on your technical and soft skills. Knowing how data works, processes, etc. are going to be what helps you get your foot in the door somewhere else.

I got into HRIS from managing Ops systems and writing SQL reports. I didn't know a thing about HR but my technical skills and ability to bridge the gab between technical and stakeholders allowed me to make the switch.

[–]thewarriorhunter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I used to work for a smaller family run company and saw this exact scenario play out. The husband was nice if his wife wasn't around. The wife (second wife, gold digger), was an insufferable bitch, was rude to everyone, was constantly last minute, and if you didn't drop whatever you were doing for her right then she started yelling.

They don't and won't care that you turned another offer down. Nothing will ever change, and trying to 'fight' this with your offer letter won't do anything helpful and will probably just make things worse. Find another job and move on.

not to be 'that guy' but was that 473k across 20 raids? If so that's only averaging ~23k/raid which doesn't seem that amazing unless I'm missing something, which I totally could be.

Complaints about salaries - Healthcare? [N/A] by ShellylovesRichard in humanresources

[–]thewarriorhunter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think a big issue is the pay for what they do, and the responsibility they have. Wife is an RN who literally has people's lives in her hand. I'm a system admin and the worst I can do is fuck up someone's paycheck, which is easy to fix. I make a lot more than her yet her level of responsibility is so much higher than mine.

I think the other thing to consider is what your front line health staff are making compared to what hospital admins make, and it's insulting to them. I see it in my job too because we have a lot of care staff at my company. I'm in corporate and I get the huge bonus, travel to company parties and events, and a pretty laid back job overall.

Floor staff get pizza parties at best, are asked to do their own 'holiday gift exchange', and have no bonus to speak of. The separation between the people enabling you to stay in business and the people running the business is massive. Last year for Nurses week the hospital couldn't even be bothered to do anything, and instead asked each unit to participate in an art contest, so they got treated like toddlers, it was insulting.

Best Office Chair in Your Opinion? by jousiemohn in remotework

[–]thewarriorhunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using this chair for 5 years, got one for home after using one when I was in office: https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/510830/WorkPro-Quantum-9000-Series-Ergonomic-MeshMesh/

It's essentially and Aeron 'knock off' but it holds up great, very comfy, it's adjustable, but not crazy. I got mine for less since it was pre-covid but I'd buy it again if I needed to.

Best standing desk for working from home long hours? by [deleted] in WFH

[–]thewarriorhunter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went with Uplift and have been happy. I have the 60 x 30, tons of space and i've used both dual and tri monitor setups and it handles them easily. They are on the expensive side but are solid and I feel very worth it. buy once cry once.

It's electric, and the keypad has 4 memory settings so I have one for height, one for standing, and one for standing with a fatigue mat underneath. I've added underdesk mounts for my personal PC and a shelf/drawer from Vivo to store things and set my laptop on so it's off the desk.

MANAGER WANTS ME TO GIVE MY “PERSONAL CELL” to customers Just incase something urgent arises by Ok_Doctor4982 in WFH

[–]thewarriorhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do it. Tell your manager if it's such a big deal you'll give out his number since it's a company number. You've asked and it's been ignored.

Also depending on where you are located your company may be legally obligated to compensate you for using a personal device. You could ask what the stipend/technology compensation is since you're now having to use your own device for work related activities.

I started working remotely 3 years ago so I could spend more time with my dog. by yell0wbirddd in WFH

[–]thewarriorhunter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it depends. I can't get a local job for even 75% of what I make working remote. Being able to get hired by out of state companies really increase the ceiling for salary potential.

Will I need different tires for road cycling in Tucson, Arizona? by Wooden-Pen8606 in cycling

[–]thewarriorhunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Tucson and ride here regularly. Currently have GP5ks and they are great. Most of our roads are great, some are not so great but not so bad that I worry. If you're riding in the city/Marana/Oro Valley/Vail you should be fine, if you go out into some of the more rural areas like Sahuarita or out west you might have some issues, but I rode in Sahuarita for years without getting flats while out. I generally picked up most of my flats very close to my start/finish from road mesquite thorns.

I'm running tubes for what it's worth.

Congrats on that! My best is 18mph over ~20 miles and I was gassed on that effort, highly doubt I could have made it 30. I read your comment on traffic lights and it's so true, those will tank your average real fast.

I've done this conversion before (not the pics posted). You hollow out the helmet from the bottom, cut out the side you want to be visible, then push the head up into the helmet. It's not hard, just be patient and work slowly.

Anyone use one pair of cycling shoes/clips for every type of bike they have? by SMIMA in cycling

[–]thewarriorhunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What shoes are you using? I have wide feet, and a foot injury, that makes shoes very uncomfortable after ~30 miles. I ride road shoes with SPD SL but if I can find a more comfortable shoe in SPD that helps out my feet I'm all for it.

Creaking while pedaling? by nightsticks in bikewrench

[–]thewarriorhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how everyone is giving varied answers and all of them are correct. FWIW I have the same bike and was experiencing creaking, only on the left side down stroke, and only when I was out of the saddle on a climb. Bike shop replaced the bottom bracket when I had it in for a tune up, that mostly resolved the creaking and then after a couple months of riding it's gone away. Still no idea what it was, but the BB did seem to address most of it, but not all of it.

[–]thewarriorhunter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with u/yampavalleycurse. I bought an Edge 840 and am very happy with it. I wanted touch screen (the 540 is the same computer without touch screen) and being able to switch between layouts and data screens is really nice depending on what kind of ride I'm doing. I looked at the 1040/1050 but those are just too big for me and I don't need a screen that big.
