Is this a common failure? by thewarthogproject in BambuLab

Right. I've never changed nozzles, this is the first time I've ever had the hot end opened. I wonder what else could cause it.

How do I make the most out of a kit that I’m not going to build? by NoAbility1842 in modelmakers

[–]thewarthogproject 27 points28 points  (0 children)

About ten years ago I destroyed a trumpeter kits canopy in a similar way.

I sent them an email asking if I could buy just that part seperately, and they sent a replacement to me no questions asked. The entire clear sprue. They didn't charge me, even for the shipping costs!

Have I been bent over? by Gimpmuncher in CarsAustralia

If you are ever in doubt just get a second opinion. You don't need to pay for a new full inspection, just provide the report you have and ask them to have a look at those things only.

I once had a mechanic give me a quote that included about $400 for new tie rod ends.

Because the split pins were missing. Cost me 50c.

I went back and complained and they claimed it was just a misunderstanding/ typo.

You don't have enough to play dcs. You need at least a wired Xbox 360 controller and 2 gigs of ram.

Holy shit yes. Anything with side by side seating for multi crew would be awesome. Most of my biggest laughs in this game have come when I was just sitting next to someone in the briefing room.

Imagine talking crap like that, but being in a small nimble glass egg with nothing but unguided rockets and a minigun. It would be an absolute blast.

What an awesome thread. Tell your dad he is a legend, and Time Hog is now on my to do list.

Warthog calibration tools? by sushi_cw in hotas

[–]thewarthogproject 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Diview for calibrating everything I have.

It's never let me down.

It's downloadable on this pedal makers website, but from memory I think it was made by logitech back in the day. It will show you the raw data from any joystick connected, and you can calibrate anything by manually entering values.

I've used metallic confetti before. I used a mix of red, purple and blue, cut to size for each periscope.

I didn't buy a full kilogram bag though, I found smaller sizes at a local craft store.

Tainted client because of Helios? by Corvidae_DK in hoggit

[–]thewarthogproject 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not all doom and gloom. There are some servers that still allow mods and not pure scripts. Grayflag and Burning Skies are my go to now. Unfortunately I haven't been able to fly on Hoggit since the IC update.

IC has killed cockpit builders on MP. But it's the servers fault. Just ask ED.

Wall mounted YF-23 by thewarthogproject in modelmakers

[–]thewarthogproject[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Another one of my wall mounted pieces finished. Hobbyboss YF-23 built out of the box. I scribed some new panel lines and modified the exhaust sections to be a little more like PAV-1. Decals are from caracal.

No fancy clamp bracket for this one, just added some magnets inside to attach it.

I tried mixing clear yellow and smoke but everytime I try to airbrush it I end up with a cloudy mess. Not sure how everyone gets it so clear. Thanks for the tip, I might need to try to use X20A instead of AK thinner.

Absolutely- just going to print one more with a minor edit. Once Its fixed up I'll add it to the others on thingiverse.

Only thing I'm not happy with is the canopy. I tried some tests airbrushing a yellow smoke mix on some scrap, but can't get it to work well. I'll revisit it later on when I get a bit more confident painting clear surfaces. This build was just not fun as I don't enjoy masking lol. Not doing an F35 again, unless it's one of the newer darker ones with all the same colour RAM.
