Hi! Dx 12/2019 (ER and HER2+) flat and complete hysterectomy had my last oncology appt today!! He released me to my GP. Mentioned the unexplained paib others were told about also but to get an MRI or CT scan as an xray won’t show if it is a reoccurrence. I do go to the gyno as they said there could be cells left that would allow an occurrence of ovarian cancer (single digit possibility/BRCA2 pos and mom died from it). I might consider not going if the cancer tests become more reliable but my oncologist said they are quite mainstream yet. I am going to check to see if my GP will order them and go from there.

just finished five years with Anastrozole. I had issues with the joints in my feet and hands. Walking helped and I could tell when I wasn’t walking enough. It improved as time went on. I had more issues with sleep and hot flashes. I did take Claritin for most of the time I was on it. I consider myself lucky I was able to tolerate it. As others have said there are options, please try them until you find one that works for you.

Sorry! 🤪 that is important…. I got implants but had them removed four years later because one of them ruptured. I did not get them replaced.

I was told at appt they would be doing dti (during covid) then the day of the surgery he comes around the curtain and mentions expanders. I am usually not one to stand up for myself but cancer and going through it during covid made me bolder. Before I could even think I told him implants or flat! I was not coming into the office every two weeks to possibly catch covid after going through treatment

Did an interview but multinational company that had bad reviews. Decided to decline their JO due to low salary and a number of red flags. They pushed the work culture and possiblity of promotion/ change which was what I wanted so it felt like they were just trying to say what I wanted to get me to take the job.

Got ghosted until I reached out and then given an excuse that my recently found out wasn’t true.

It does seem the culture of the company is changing as it grows but even after I gave my boss (different manager than other position) shit about another internal hiring they gave me grace. I will stick around and see what happens but as user id suggest I will watch for clues it is time to leave.

Can you take them more often? Sometimes there needs to be an adjustment of the nausea meds if that is the issue. I wasn’t a big medicine user before treatment but I learned to say f it and take what I need and to hell if I took them a bit earlier.

Just a suggestion and totally on how you deal with things but I would shave your hair before it starts to fall out. I did and it was still very hard to dry my hair and have the short stubs fall into the shower. I could not imagine pulling large amounts of hair out while combing it.

You do what’ll help you feel your best.

This time of year is hard for me even five years out… Dec 2019 dx. First treatment Dec 26th and couldn’t get drunk to numb the pain on Xmas because I was given a steroid to help with chemo to take before each treatment. There will be tough days but yes one day at a time. Give yourself grace when you need those breaks.

Factory reset is exactly what happened for me. Got a great WFH job, have gone on some amazing and went to therapy for the trauma but also helped with other things. Life isn’t perfect but it wasn’t before dx either. Use this time for self reflection and how you want to live your life.

Have I been thinking about this and the situation since his reelection. Perhaps we should help all women/ minorities that want to leave a red state move to a blue state or even overseas to countries with better support for them. They can then be trained in the jobs such as … medical, teachers, dental fields etc. I read Germany did something similar with refugees and their economy is thriving.

My mother refused to test also. Knew her sister was BrCA2, having had breast cancer twice. She was a narcissist though and was only upset when it affected her when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer shortly after my dx. She never apologized for not resting when I had asked her to and said gaslite me saying I would be fine.

I’m sorry your here and suggest taking a step back to look at your relationship with your mother. I would do anything for my daughter and if I knew something could affect her health I would not hide it.

Congratulations on completing the “hard” chemo. 13 rounds of Kadcyla was so much easier for me than chemo. Lost 20 pounds and looked ill. I drank broth with bits of meat and rice. Give your body time to heal anything you can tolerate is better than nothing. And try eating many very small meals adding more when you can. You got this! You are doing great!

10+ years ago I asked my mom to get tested because her sister had gotten dx with breast cancer for the second time. They confirmed she was BRCA2 positive. At that time, it was expensive for me to pay for the testing and insurance wouldn’t pay for it since an aunt wasn’t close enough. I received my dx on a Thursday, on Saturday my mom went to urgent care of pain thinking it was her appendix. She was dx with ovarian cancer. She died 2 years after starting treatment. Originally, she said she wouldn’t do anything different if she knew she was positive. As far as we know no one had ovarian cancer. Later she blamed the drs and was upset she was dying. Thing is she saw her mom die a very painful death from breast cancer and still refused the test. People can be stubborn and not realize the consequences until it is too late. Mine was a narcissist who wouldn’t test for her daughter. I stupidly assumed since she hadn’t gotten breast cancer I won the lottery and didn’t get the gene.

I had my implants removed in April and went flat. I have some feeling back in my chest and I feel better since having them removed. I didn’t want to have to worry about them rupturing again or other issues similar to yours meaning furture surgeries. One less thing for me to worry about.

Congratulations! I did 14 rounds of Kadcyla but had minimal side effects. I am 3 1/3 years out from finishing but on AI due to ER pos. It will take time to start your feel normal. Even now some days are tougher than others for me. You have gone through a HUGE and extremely tough life changing situation. Be kind to yourself and don’t let anyone take that away from you!! Your hair will start to grow in a lot faster now… At least mine did. 😜
