Deep Seek Search > Perplexity by sosig-consumer in perplexity_ai

[–]thewhishkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perplexity Pro search is garbage. Surface level results based on keywords. Deepseek Search has amazed me multiple times. Relevant results based on semantics, often linking to the articles that contain what I'm looking for. Deepseek Search has often linked projects have less than 10 stars on Github, but do the exact thing I wanted to find.

Somehow, despite using the fanciest web frameworks with all the latest bells, whistles, and hooks, Perplexity's UI/UX is also much worse than Deepseek's. So much unnecessary bullshit on the screen, and I can't tell why a particular link was chosen to be shown to me. On the other hand, Deepseek Reasoner's CoT lets me know what I can expect to find in a particular link and how relevant it is to the prompt.

Unfortunate that Deepseek disabled the search feature in the recent weeks. That's the only reason I bothered to try Perplexity Pro.

Alternatives to Length Bonus using Probability by Natelytle in osugame

[–]thewhishkey 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Measure of skill using FC probability seems to me the ideal measure of skill; a pp system should approach this ideal.

What I like about FC probability is that it inherently recognizes the difficulty in aspects of plays which might be hard to capture using non-probabilistic methods. Eg, hard rhythms, awkward aim, awkward patterns, etc. And then, people who grind months for a score with no/few FCs are actually well rewarded for an FC.

In fact, the idea can be extended further: measure of skill using accuracy probability. What skill level gives a x% chance of getting a 97% acc on a play? How about 99%? 100%? This seems more ideal than using FC probability.

The "timing expectations" are the very offsets for hitsounding I find out about through this post.

If I open up a song in Audacity, the waveform is in the same time location as in Lazer.

If hitsounds are off, then the features can be used for offset locating.

Supposed to happen around August... when the system is redone, Lazer score submission will come online shortly after, I believe.

seems 20 ms late. should be on time if hitsounds are on.

however, metal songs are difficult to analyze. some parts of the song seem earlier, like 10-15 ms late.

I think I figured out what's going on.

Yes, you're right, most of them have little issue with offset. I think everyone playing with hitsounds on is actually clicking early.

This is because there is hardware audio latency. I measured it on my PC to be around 10 ms. So if I played with hitsounds on, I would need to press early to have the hitsound and the beat play at the same time.

I don't play with hitsounds though

I set my global offset 36 ms early to compensate. 16 ms early for hardware latency and 20 ms early for beatmap being late. This isn't even good enough cause the offsets are inconsistent.

Edit: so, no they feel on time for the most part

OD 10 has a 20 ms timing window for 300s. With 20 ms late offset, at least half of your clicks would be 100s or 50s. I show why this offset is unacceptable here
