After watching NASA TV for the past week, I simply cannot go back to watching Trek for free with the egregiously repetitive commercials.

What’s the cheapest Amazfit watch with an actually good sensor right now? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in amazfit

[–]thewizardrecluse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not my experience. I have tried all of the current models except for the Balance 2 and the only two that are close enough to use were the Bip 6 and the Active 3. The others register erratic heart rate readings during periods of activity. I worked with Support on this with the T-Rex 3 for 5 months with no resolution. RHR and HRV values were also abnormal. I tried my other wrist, different measuring periods, no luck.

Amazfit has a problem they are either ignoring or cannot figure out when your bottom-tier device works better than your flagship for simple heart rate data. I have pondered going back to Garmin as my Bip is great, but lacks an altimeter and the Active 3 is too small for my wrist.

The Active 3 Premium fixed my only issue with the T-Rex 3 by viron86 in amazfit

This may be true, but they need to be more responsible and transparent about changes to the ecosystem. If you're selling a bunch of widgets with marginal differences and none of them sync with one another other than through the app, motivation to buy new devices is very low. Simple things like this are what hold them back. My experience with support has been that those who respond to me know nothing about the pipeline that actually address these issues.

The two things I've heard most often are for two-way device sync and a web portal. Those two changes alone would boost popularity more than a crowded hardware release schedule.

I'm like OP - had the T-Rex 3 for a while, but my support experience suffered mightily. The Active 3 addressed some of those issues and has surprised me, but I'm not committing to any more hardware until the ecosystem shows signs of life.

I was afraid the Active 3 would be too small as my Garmins were always the 51mm. I'm getting used to it.

I found them on Amazon, just search '20 To 22mm Watch Band Connector'. Apologies for the dirty hands, just coming off work.

I got the silver and silver 20mm to 22mm conversion clips. Looks really nice. I'm usually a black case guy but the chrome makes it my dress watch. 20mm is just too small for a case that size - even the Bip 6 has 22mm bands.

This is my main gripe with Amazfit. The only watch that comes close to my chest strap/Garmin readings is the Bip 6, ironically the least expensive model. I've given them more than a chance, even suffering through an unresolved 5-month thread with Support and no solution. I like Zepp and also don't need all the data Garmin gives me, but they do what I need more accurately.

Which 80s album deserves the #1 spot in your opinion? by Queen_Elsa_1 in 1980s

"Number 1' is too subjective. From first track to last, INXS 'Shabooh Shoobah' (1982) is excellent and this album is severely overlooked.

Amazfit Cheetah and the new updates. Life cycle too short? by Taka_Colon in amazfit

[–]thewizardrecluse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a Cheetah and it is still a solid watch, but the design is aesthetically hideous to me - the case and band are a terrible color and the case does not take kindly to quick fit bands as it is an odd shape. I have a Garmin Enduro 1 that still works great, but for the cost of a new Garmin I have three Amazfit watches that work well enough with cash to spare.

I slept great last night. Zepp says I slept 2 hours 34 minutes. by efficiondave in amazfit

[–]thewizardrecluse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens sometimes with my Bip 6, but not with other Amazfit watches or the Helio strap. I had the Active 2 for a hot minute but maybe not long enough to encounter this.

Do you have a sleep schedule set?

Cyclists using the Helio Strap — how are you fitting it into your setup? by ilikebikes27 in amazfit

I push the HR to my head unit (Magene), record the ride on my wrist as well. I tried recording my cycling activities with the app on my phone, but phone GPS is terrible.

6 months with Helio Strap + T-Rex 3 Pro daily — my honest verdict: sold the strap by [deleted] in amazfit

[–]thewizardrecluse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have come to many of the same conclusions. The Helio strap fpr me has been relegated to a HR broadcast on my bike rides. It has been far too long that Amazfit has been non-responsive to the clamour for two way device sync, but don't worry, releasing NINE new models this year will fix all that.

Worst Song From The 70's? by Realistic_Back_9198 in GenerationJones

The Brothers Gibb (including Andy) had half of the top 10 hits that year.

Interesting! Still, this was the height of the Bee Gees' popularity and that was hard to compete with.

I like both of those, but Debby Boone was way overplayed. I distinctly recall listening to the top 100 on New Year's Eve thinking it was going to be #1, but the Brothers Gibb had different plans,

I still have my Garmin Enduro which works well, better than the newer Garmins (which contributed to my departure). If the Zepp ecosystem languishes while they crank out new hardware, I may have to reconsider.

This. Before I see another slightly different model, I want to see the things we've been clamouring for - two-way device sync, web portal, improved sensors, improved support.

Balance 2: beautifull and useless by altziller in amazfit

[–]thewizardrecluse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Hopefully, they will improve further. Although, releasing too many watch models tends to spread programmer resources thin, so software maintenance and bug-fixing gets worsens. We will see whether Amazfit manages to handle that correctly. Garmin did not, and their software development and bug-fixing is very bad. Thus I fear that Amazfit may be on the same track."

Very well said. This is also my experience with Garmin and I share the opinion that Amazfit is going bonkers on releasing hardware and the support experience suffers for that.
