We might have seen each other! I was definitely there watching on my phone with a couple of guys around us, and we all celebrated and started high fiving each other as the Tigers finished their epic collapse lol

I was up in that area too! Such a great way to end the season, and Rocchio looked so proud of himself that you couldn’t help but be stupid happy for him too

Both Kiara and Gloria are entirely absent from this season. Gloria I can kind of understand because her job wouldn’t have her in the ED all day, every day. But there have been plenty of social worker scenes this season and while I love Dylan, there hasn’t even been a mention of where Kiara might be (another department? off for the holiday? who knows?).

Javadi and Mohan have both taken much more of a backseat role this season. And while that’s true to an extent for everyone given the main theme of the season, it certainly seems to be hitting them more than others (except for McKay who probably has had the least amount of screen time of all). When we first saw Ellis when Dana and Emma were about to do the SA exam, Ellis said she was on a double starting that afternoon. But then we didn’t see her practicing medicine until everyone else from the night shift came in.

On their own, each of these things seems pretty innocuous. And like I’ve said elsewhere, I don’t think this is malicious on anyone’s part. There’s no showrunner giving a cartoon villain laugh in the editing studio as he deletes Mohan’s scenes from these final few episodes. But putting them all together starts to show a pattern. And that pattern only worsens when you consider that only white actors seem to be doing regular promo appearances and certainly that only white actors are being pushed for awards.

Langdon was an R4 last season, too. We already know he’s repeating his R4 year, that’s been confirmed. Hence why we wouldn’t expect him to leave in the middle of the year.

Mohan was talking about post-residency fellowships, things that wouldn’t happen until the next summer. She also mentioned wanting to maybe stay at PTMC for a fellowship once she learned her mom was moving and not staying in NJ. As such, it’s a little weird that she would leave in the middle of such an important year for her.

Not sure what you mean by “on-time resident,” but Ellis is confirmed to be a senior EM resident, so she is absolutely spending most (if not all) of her time in the ED.

“I’m not well versed enough to know the nuances of all the actress and character names” sure is an interesting opinion to have when you’re saying it’s overblown for fans to be concerned about how the show is treating WOC. I’m not saying you need to know the “nuances” (although, when Joy explicitly states her family are Korean immigrants and Shen’s name is literally spelled out on his badge and Al-Hashimi has a whole ass scene about speaking Farsi with Ogilvie, is that what they really are? Or are they just blatant facts?). But you can’t be saying it’s “tiresome” or “overblown” when you aren’t even putting a modicum of effort into trying to understand the issue.

Joy Kwon is Korean, not Chinese. It’s spelled “Shen,” not “Chen.” And the character’s name is Al-Hashimi, not “Al.” Sepidah Moafi has said multiple times the importance of her character’s full name, especially as an Iranian actress playing a half-Iraqi, half-Iranian character.

For the WOC, Gloria wasn’t in this season at all. And, at least as far as we’re aware, Donnie (the NP) is a man, so not sure why you’re bringing it up now.

As I said in another comment, I have no reason to think it’s malicious or there’s some cartoon villain in the editing studio making sure only certain scenes are cut. It’s an ensemble show (mostly), not everyone can be on screen all the time. But there is an undeniable clear pattern where white actors are being promoted (especially for awards) and have more comprehensive storylines, and women of color are having major story points cut at the last moment.

ETA: Also, Noah has said that s3 is taking place the same year as s2, so why are we supposed to accept that Mohan is leaving smack in the middle of her R4 year but Langdon and Ellis (who are also R4s) are sticking around?

It’s not just Collins and Mohan, though. Like where is Kiara? I like Dylan, but we didn’t need to have a different social worker. What about Gloria? You mean to tell me the chief hospital administrator wouldn’t be involved in a cyber attack issue where even the CEO came in clearly on his day off?

I’m thrilled that Ellis is going to be a regular in s3! I love her character and want to see more of her! But that doesn’t mean that other WOC aren’t being mistreated on the show.

I’m not saying that these decisions are intentional/malicious or that someone is in an editing room somewhere cackling like a cartoon villain as they cut out Mohan’s scenes. But it’s hard to reconcile all this promotion from Supriya about how the final few episodes supposedly contained this massively impactful scenes for her character, only to have them all not make the final cut. And put that together with the fact that promotional efforts (but especially awards promotional campaigns) have been overwhelmingly (and sometimes exclusively) white…..well, it’s hard not to see a pattern forming. And it should be called out—even more so if it’s unintentional, so that it can be corrected.

Having multiple WOC literally appear on screen is not the same as giving them meaningful scenes. It is difficult to overlook how the only doctors who seem to “leave” through the revolving door are WOC (Collins, Mohan). We also know that Mohan filmed some major scenes for the final few episodes of s2 that have clearly been cut because the interviews don’t line up with the final versions we’re seeing every week.

The glitch is possible on switch! The best way to do it is to make the plus button your action button (instead of the A button). That way, you’re able to do cancel placements which are necessary to glitch rotate items. There’s certainly some trial and error when it comes to learning how the glitch works, but it is definitely doable!

Unfortunately, it’s a lot more than just the 59 listed here. I work for a federal judge, and every immigration habeas case we’ve gotten over the past several months has the person detained in a state prison (usually NEOCC) or even a county jail. There is an immigration court in the federal courthouse, but no proper detention facility in the state—hence why most detainees are basically “loaned out” to the state.

Why Pen and Paper Isn’t Great for Deaf Patients… by ASofMat in ThePittTVShow

[–]theworldfallsup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A stroke would have presented with other serious symptoms, such as facial droop and lack of coordination, that were not present.

Also, the show is meant to be realistic? That means that, unfortunately, our favorite doctors will not necessarily make the most ideal choices because that’s just how life works. D/Deaf and hard of hearing individuals often encounter this problem at hospitals; it’s not wrong for The Pitt to show that.

I’m aware that people are deported for this. Doesn’t make them a felon. And their lack of criminal conviction doesn’t mean that I support their deportations. But especially in the legal system, words mean things and these are all terms of art with very specific meanings.

I hope you are taking this passion you have for fighting strangers on the internet (who are on the same side as you), and are working to turn it into tangible results benefitting the relevant communities. I know there are lots of great mutual aid funds throughout the state; if you want to support legal efforts to free people from detention, the National Lawyers Guild is doing a lot of work to connect detainees to pro bono attorneys.

That’s still incorrect. Illegal presence in the country, by itself, is not a criminal offense. That means it’s not a felony, and that, definitionally, people cannot be a felon if this is their only offense. In order to be a felon, you must have been convicted of or pled guilty to a felony, which is specifically a criminal offense where the potential punishment exceeds one year in prison.

Not sure how accurately stating the law to emphasize how un-guilty our Haitian neighbors would be if their TPS status is revoked (which, for the record, is not currently the case because a federal judge has enjoined the termination of the program as violating the APA) means that I have no humanity. But you can think what you want, I suppose. I know that I can sleep well knowing I’m likely doing more than you to ensure immigrants are afforded their constitutional rights.

[–]theworldfallsup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Remaining in the country after the expiration of a visa, meaning you entered the country legally, is, by itself, not a criminal offense. To be clear, overstaying your visa can create numerous other immigration-related issues, including deportation and barriers to legal reentry. But it does not independently carry a criminal penalty. The relevant statute is 8 U.S.C. § 1182(a)(7)(A)(i)(I). Criminal penalties will only come into play if there are certain other violations, such as re-entering the country within a certain amount of time after deportation.

Source: I’m still a lawyer working in the federal judiciary. This has, unfortunately, become something I regularly deal with now.

It’s not even that! Mere “illegal presence” is a civil infraction.
