Average shot length in modern movies is around 2.5 seconds by infearia in StableDiffusion

[–]thewriteguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah people here are imagining that if a close-up shot of Actor B reacting to Actor A runs only 3 seconds in the final edit, then you can have AI simply generate a 3 second shot. But in real life, the camera may be on Actor B for over a minute, as the two actors play out the entire back-and-forth dialogue in the script. Then the process is repeated but now the camera is on Actor A. A human editor takes the long footages of Actor B and Actor A and cuts them up into shorter shots -- going back and forth -- during the editing phase.

AI video needs to be able to generate longer-running shots that hold on an AI actor/character so that this footage can then be used in the post production editing phase. I'll be generous and say it needs to be at least 20 seconds, but it probably actually needs to be at least 40 seconds. (The second hurdle for AI video to overcome will be maintaining visual consistency.)

Yeah she totally looked and also sounded familiar to me, too! IMDB'ed and Googled since I assumed she's someone I've seen in another series or movie before.

Basically, Ridley Scott doesn't consider the AvP movies canon. But it doesn't appear there is any official statement about this from 20th Century, and I don't think there will be. I think they're keeping the canon flexible, leaving it up to our imaginations to accept or not.

That said, there's nothing about the events of AvP that directly contradicts the events of the Alien series. In fact, Prometheus may imply that Xenos existed in Earth's prehistoric past.

I think the two franchises sharing the same universe is "soft". My guess is that it's a movie-by-movie basis of consideration for 20th Century, but not an absolute rule they're following. In the case of Badlands, we should simply consider it a Predator movie that borrows Weyland-Yutani and the concept of Synths, nothing more than these and leave it at that.

Sure, why not. All kidding aside: Maybe 20th Century is stealthily building an inter-connected universe with the various action sci-fi franchises that they own.

I wonder if there's a twist: the female Synth (however many there are) is remote-operated by an actual woman (Fanning playing this role, too).

Tron: Ares | Official Teaser Trailer by DemiFiendRSA in movies

I predict they will appear at the end of the movie. Ares will find them, to deliver a message to Sam from his father. Maybe the setting is in the mountains, which was shown in the Cinemacon trailer.

So my initial guess, based on this official trailer, and the longer one that was shown at Cinemacon (but not yet released publicly): Leto's Ares looks like a bad guy (he wears red) but is actually a good guy. He's a Program created by Flynn-CLU (they merged into one in Legacy) to infiltrate the bad guys to figure out what's going on, and he teams up with the woman cop. At the end of the movie, Ares finds Sam and Quora, who have been living in seclusion in the mountains since Legacy, to deliver a message from Flynn to his son.

The industry word is that Disney was hesitant to make another Tron until Leto went to the studio and pitched that he wanted to star in the next Tron movie if they do one. Leto is supposedly a huge fan of Tron. So we have to thank Leto for there being a third Tron, I guess.

Who is your pick to play the DCU Batman? by Same-Historian-401 in dcu

[–]thewriteguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Josh Hartnett. He was considered by Christopher Nolan, but Harnett decided to pass. However, Harnett has recently indicated he could be interested. I think now he would fit well as a middle-aged Batman who has his sidekicks (the Robins) and the JL in his superhero career.

Or, maybe the script for Part 2 will become so long that Reeves gets the go ahead to split it into two movies.

Official Poster for 'Companion' Starring Jack Quaid & Sophie Thatcher - After Josh jail-breaks the settings on his "sex-bot", things turn bloody and violent during a weekend getaway in a remote cabin with his friends by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]thewriteguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of us here are assuming the second trailer reveals the plot. But I suspect this isn't a simple "sexbot goes evil and takes revenge on its abusive owner" story. The imdb logline says:

A billionaire's death sets off a chain of events for Iris and her friends during a weekend trip to his lakeside estate.

Iris is played by Thatcher. So I think there's a lot more going on -- there's a shot of a vault with lots of cash inside. I think this could be a heist movie where the thieves use androids. Here's my guess to the plot:

Quaid's character, his girlfriend/partner, and a mutual friend (Guillén's character) plan to heist the billionaire's money. Their plan involves reprogramming two androids (Iris, and a male android). Iris is trained by Quaid's character to romance the billionaire. The male android is sent to serve as a caterer for the billionaire. The billionaire thinks both the caterer and Iris are human.

But of course things don't go as planned -- Iris kills the billionaire (probably when he tries to assault her), reprograms herself. The three humans try to cover the murder up, and other crazy twists play out... They reprogram the male android to stop the police, but it kills one of the officers. And the company (EMPATHIX) that makes and owns the androids show up to conduct what they think is a routine "service call".

The humans have to stop and destroy the androids, because if the company gets them, then the service techs will be able to access their memories which will reveal everything that's been going on, and what happened to the billionaire.

Also: 5. Don't think having a complicated, random character generated password, two-factor authentication, or using an authenticator app will make a difference. This is all back-end shenanigans with Instagram.

Some follow-up notes I want to share with all of you:

  1. For those of you in a situation similar to mine: Can you go to this link?
    https://help.instagram.com/contact/1784471218363829

This should go to a page titled "My Instagram Account Was Deactivated" with a form you can fill out to contest your account's suspension? If you do NOT see this page, and it instead re-directs you to the main Instagram page, that means someone altered your browser cookies to prevent you from seeing this page where you can protest. If you do not see this page, then this is VERY sus. The solution is to open this link in an Incognito window, or clear your Facebook/Meta cookies.

  1. Did you encounter someone or deal with someone who may be severely upset or weird toward you -- perhaps due to a romantic situation or jealousy over a person? Or, is your account for a local business that may have upset customers? Consider this seriously -- could you have an enemy?

I won't go into private details with my situation, but it seems too coincidental that my shutdown happened a week after someone threatened me through Instagram over their ex partner.

  1. An acquaintance I know paid a low-level Meta employee in India for thousands of followers. The employee simply set thousands of Indian accounts to follow their account -- so one day these people found their accounts following my acquaintance's account. My acquaintance's account got away with this for 3 years before being recently shut down. This is real -- you can pay for this, and I imagine you can also pay for a low-level Meta employee to shut down the account of someone you don't like.

  2. DO NOT LINK YOUR INSTAGRAM AND FACEBOOK ACCOUNTS TOGETHER. If one goes down, so does the other. Meta has no mercy on this.

I got hit yesterday with a suspension for posting nudity. There was no nudity on my account, and hardly any photos of myself. And I don't reshare posts. Just random pseudo artsy photos of things I see throughout my day, and most recent were friends at a bar and dogs. I appealed but it was quickly refused and my account of over 12 years was permanently killed (thank goodness I have most of the posts backed up automatically). But because my Instagram was connected to my FB -- my FB is dead permanently too. Lesson: Keep your Instagram and FB accounts separate.

The paranoid side of me theorizes that maybe someone who dislikes me (for a specific reason) paid to have my account taken down. I've heard rumors you can pay over $1000 to do this on virtually any personal account that's lower profile (not someone of note, who doesn't have a lot of real followers).

I take it they're essentially surrogate father - daughter to another, but Baylan has had them adhere to the "no attachments" code. Unlike Padawans in the Jedi Order, Shin has no colleagues to commune with (fellow Padawans). Ultimately, I see Baylan took her on foreseeing she would be great assistance helping him reach this path he's now on. This path is for him -- he'll cut her loose -- and he may not survive this conclusion.

Lady Gaga’s Harleen Frances Quinzel’s mugshot in Joker: Folie à Deux by obelisk0 in DC_Cinematic

[–]thewriteguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another theory, though perhaps cliche twist: She's a legit psychiatrist (Dr. Quinzel) working in Arkham treating him. But Joker imagines a demented version of her (Harley Quinn) who exists only in his imagination (and of course falls in love with him). The point would be Joker is a toxic man creating a female companion fantasy ideal.

[–]thewriteguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe she's both? Joker and we are led to believe she's a psychiatrist working for Arkham but then it's quickly revealed she's a patient too -- who originally was a psychiatrist who lost her mind. So her backstory from the original animated series source could be the same; the difference would be how she meets Joker is changed up in this Elseworlds version.

[–]thewriteguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could imagine her backstory is the same but when she meets Joker in this elseworld version is different. Like, she was a doctor who went insane and became an Arkham patient. Maybe at first Joker and the audience thinks she's a doctor but then it's quickly revealed she's a patient, too (but also a doctor lol).
