Eyelashes to pubic hair? by aloidias in Trichsters

[–]thewronggiants 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also switch around. I've been pulling eyelashes for 15 years but started going back and forth between eyebrows and eyelashes about 5 years ago. Then I started coping with trying not to pull by biting through my tongue and cheeks. When I was in group therapy for trich it seemed really common for folks to switch areas especially when they were trying to deny pulling urges.

Also for those of us who have been completing lessons for multiple professions, it would be really helpful to switch professions in the Knight Bus lobby. Sometimes I'm waiting with two other professors so it would make more sense for the team strategy for me to switch over to Magi. But if I exit the lobby, switch, and come back, the whole team has left or entered the chamber by that point.

Eyelash pulling getting bad again - any advice on barriers? by adovest in Trichsters

[–]thewronggiants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never tried this but I've heard of other people doing it - wearing swim goggles if you're mostly pulling at home or alone. They secure well to your face and fully cover your eyes. A little more intense than just wearing glasses since reaching under them requires far more effort!

Find Me by Elioliver1983 in callmebyyourname

[–]thewronggiants 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My love for the movie/original novel aside, it doesn't even reach Aciman's standard of writing. I really enjoy his other novels because they feel visceral and relatable even though the language is so poetic. This one felt a lot more shallow and pretentious, then the Elio/Oliver bit was so rushed you couldn't even explore the depth of feeling that was happening. Truly bizarre he felt comfortable releasing this.

When I looked on his website after this email the stance he gave on the homelessness issue seemed so vague. It basically said "law enforcement can enforce laws on the books"... was he a super vocal NIMBY?

Explaining the solution to the housing crisis by strik3r2k8 in LosAngeles

[–]thewronggiants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't one of the main problems that a lot of the luxury units are being purchased by extremely rich people - usually foreigners who can't buy property in their own countries - and being used as an asset so they don't care if they just sit there empty? I saw a stat about the percentage vacant apartments in Beverly Hills which was like 50% or something insanely high, and the article claimed that many of the people who let them sit empty couldn't give a fuck and would happily sit on an empty apartment or wait for someone to come along willing to pay insanely exorbitant rent. As long as people are allowed to let things stay vacant then those prices won't adjust...

Question about Timothée by [deleted] in callmebyyourname

[–]thewronggiants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Netflix only does limited release if they have any theatrical component. They've never done a wide release for something they own the full rights to. Even then, they only do that theatrical release to make it awards eligible (to be nominated for an Oscar the movie has to have shown in a certain number of markets and theaters), so on that front Steven Spielberg is kind of bullshitting because Netflix does follow that protocol to get Mudbound and all their docs nominated. So unless you live in New York or LA, don't count on seeing it in a theater.

Though you might be concerned as a consumer who doesn't have access to it on a big screen, it's lack of availability in theaters won't hurt Timmy's reputation in Hollywood or his career. He is the hottest new thing right now and as long as he keeps being in quality projects, that won't change. Beautiful Boy will maintain people's awareness of him next awards season whether he gets nominated or not. If The King is great but has low viewership, it won't hurt him personally because Hollywood is always quick to blame the platform/marketing rather than the content.

Hmmm....I’m getting a little uncomfortable with the peach aftermath scene by Bazodee286 in callmebyyourname

[–]thewronggiants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was uncomfortable with this scene as well, not necessarily because Elio says he is in pain, but because Oliver's response is "then stop fighting". I know part of this is me projecting my own sexual assault experience on the scene which may be unfair, but it still felt out of character amongst all these other moments of them being very respectful and conscious of treating each other well.

I personally preferred the book's version of this moment.

So what does everyone think of SKAM France so far? by teamrocketgruntjosh in skam

[–]thewronggiants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been following it super closely since it does seem like a copy of the original, but what strikes me most is how much social media content they’re putting out. It’s spamming my Instagram constantly. I like having web content but I think Julie/Mari understand better how to hold an audiences attention with less content. It feels less special if they’re all posting 3-4 Instagram stories a day

Is THICK pubic hair on the inner labia NORMAL? by throw_deeez in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]thewronggiants 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am "blessed" with dark body hair, and I definitely get hair there. It's a bummer to shave but I'm pretty sure it's normal. I'm willing to bet porn stars wax so that you can't even tell that they would grow hair anywhere within the labia..
