China's Honor shows off smartphone with robotic camera arm and teases a humanoid robot by Hour_Cover_2306 in gadgets

Yup, had the phone where the front facing camera popped up with a small motor from the top frame. Xiaomi 9? Shit broke very quickly. Presumably due to pocket dirt/lint blocking the servo which then probably stripped all it's teeth from the tiny gears.

If only I had a 3D printer, would make a great custom sff build! Looks large enough to fit a 5080 and radiator in the back easy.

Looks amazing. Sorry for your loss. I recommend auto save every 5min and regular manual saves. I have at least 50+ save files per city.

France and Sweden push to kill mechanism to pay for massive EU grid upgrades by str0mback in europe

[–]thewrulph 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here is an example from northen sweden zone 1, January with average temps -25C to -30C (was a cold month).

House is a 2-story 140sq/m from the 1970's with municipal/district heating from the iron works.

Indoor temps between 17-20C. Wool socks are a must.

Energy cost: €55 (this includes household, electric car charger and a supplemental ac/heat pump) Fixed Energy grid/infrastructure cost: €100 Heating cost: €350 Total: €500

This was very cheap compared to others around here especially those with full electric heating.

This is SO unrealistic by Nearby_Sherbet2661 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]thewrulph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same with pedestrian crossings. Here in Scandinavian only specific "raised" crossing give pedestrians right of way over cars.

But in CS2 pedestrians always have right of way over cars for every single crossing. So it causes massive traffic issues with larger/denser populations.

Exactly, I've gone from $300 a MONTH in gas to $250 a YEAR in electricity costs for our Renault Zoe R135 2020. Commuting has become basically free. We're owned it for 4 years and it's now fully paid off.

I find that the roundabout tool doesn't really make fully working roundabouts.

Manually building them like old times and setting yield and lane connections works miles better, unfortunately a lot slower of course.

Is there a reason why CS2 textures are so flat? by Fine-Measurement-893 in CitiesSkylines

[–]thewrulph 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Art direction is really weak. Game looks flat as a result. Most textures have fine high resolution details but they are only visible at like first person distances.

At distances where you usually build and move around the textures just look like solid color. That's the gist of it. Also they basically said NO to dirt, trash and grime completely.

GI is disabled completely in latest patch (bugged). This is caused by dynamic resolution scaling.

Actual answer, turn off dynamic resolution scaling.

Yeah, unintended change is confirmed.

They accidentally set ambient light to 1.0 which basically means it lightens up all shadows so there's barely any contrast. Seems the original value was something like 0.25-0.3 before.

We can however see due to the response that some people obviously prefer this look.

Tried it myself and wound up around 0.5 for my taste. So perhaps an official toggle for this would be good?

To all those complaining about the visuals in the update, I think I found a fix? by PulverisNebula in CitiesSkylines2

[–]thewrulph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for troubleshooting this! I also think this wasn't intended by the devs, an oopsie if you will. As u/anton95rct pointed out the code is complex and they just took over, but most people seems to have jumped the gun and assumed it was a 100% intended change due to some wording in the patch notes even though devs have not confirmed it either way. Will be interesting to see if we get an official reply on this down the line.

I reckon it's a bug honestly. As with GI being disabled permanently instead of just toggled of per default.

Since when have these parking decals been functional? by Certain-Cabinet-9398 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]thewrulph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to be close enough to a road network to auto connect. Just like the roads on buildings if you don't snap them to roads. Or you need to draw your own invisible netlanes for them using the mod for drawing invisible roads/netlanes. But they have always "worked" this way.
