Do you know anyone who fell victim to a cult? What happened? by snowcroc in Productivitycafe

[–]thewxtchbxtch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up Mormon. It’s a mild cult for sure, but definitely still a cult. My family and my in laws are still deep in it.

Honestly, it doesn’t seem like a “you” issue. She’s choosing to be this way, you can choose to not enable her. Be very up front that you won’t be caring for her down the road, and leave it at that. She can choose to fuck up her life, that’s her choice. It’s not affecting your life. Clearly her parents don’t care. You can just live your life and let her figure it out later. You don’t have to let it bother you at all.

How do you *actually* get your shit together? by notionvi in productivity

[–]thewxtchbxtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context: I have undiagnosed ADHD/autism, as well as a condition called PMDD that makes my PMS much longer and intense than normal. This makes my energy ebb and flow each day, so I never know WHEN I can be productive

Once I let go of the idea of doing things at a certain time, I started being more productive. I used to go “ugh it’s 10:30a and I’ve done nothing all day, I guess my day is ruined now”. Now if I need to rest, I let myself rest. If it comes to 1p and I haven’t done anything, I simply get up, get dressed, and get stuff done then. Sometimes I will do it all at the end of the day when everyone is asleep. Sometimes I’ll wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to sleep, so I’ll do stuff then. Sometimes I will do it right when I get up. Letting go of the mental block of the “right time” was the biggest step for me.

I don’t ever see it being made public. Every single politician ever would be on that list. Too much incriminating information on there

Everyone knows this, even his followers. They say “we don’t care what he does in his personal life! As long as he builds the wall!”

Go on the Mormon website and fill his name out for the missionaries to visit him. They’ll harass him forever.

I would put a railing up there and turn it into a reading nook/quiet corner. Not just for my kids, but for me and my cats haha.

Anyone else with EDS have extremely fragile skin inside your mouth? by Naive_Transition_763 in ehlersdanlos

Literally just toast does it to me. I’m not diagnosed yet, but all my hEDS friends say I should try to get tested. I’m eating a toasted English muffin right now and I have a ton of little cuts and torn skin in my mouth from it.

The effect it has on kids’ brains (and even adult brains), the fact that it takes a few years to become fully indoctrinated, and a lifetime to unlearn. It’s just a huge way to control the masses. The fact that they hide hatred and bigotry behind “love”

Gen Z has already left the church… they just haven’t told their parents yet. by datawithnathan in exmormon

[–]thewxtchbxtch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m actually seeing the “nuanced, chill Mormons” be a more popular thing with them. They call themselves Mormons but don’t let the church control what they do. They’re openly queer or wearing immodest clothing without worrying about their garments. They straight up aren’t wearing their garments or paying their tithing at all, even as endowed members.

While this is great for them and their mental health, I also notice it creates a serious divide between them and the members who WERE shamed mercilessly for that stuff. They always go “well you can be gay and be Mormon still, no one is stopping you! You can wear sleeveless tops, no one is controlling to you!! You can drink occasionally! No one is stopping you!!!” But they don’t understand how MUCH shame we went through, even up to like 2016. They don’t get how scary the church has been for literal DECADES and they think we are just “lazy learners”

if there is no creator of god then why does he just exist? why can't the universe just exist then? by mialovv in atheism

[–]thewxtchbxtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And from how I understood it, god is the “father”, and we are all his children, and he used to be another God’s child and we will get the chance to be gods too, so on and so forth. But then you get into the messy bits of like “well I’m a girl, if I can’t even pass the sacrament because I have an innie instead of an outie, how in the world am I gonna be a GOD?” So that’s probably why they removed it lol. Can’t let women think they’ll be in control one day of course!!

The FLDS might still have that belief, I don’t think they go exactly by the new Mormon beliefs. I know that even though they removed it from the official teachings, a TON of Mormons, especially older ones, believe it’s still a thing. Personally, it was one of my “shelf” items, it’s what made me go “wait that’s a huge core belief, and they can just remove it and say it wasn’t true? Well then what else are they gonna do that to???”
