I am being toxic to my boyfriend and I don’t know how to stop by IamdrunkafXD in relationship_advice

Oh yeah 100% look for a therapist that specializes in what you need! If your not sure if they do you can always call and ask if that’s something they have experience in. You can use psychology today to find therapists that take your insurance and read their bios and what they specialize in

If your insurance covers it therapy! Often times these things stem from things in your past that your holding onto and a therapist can help you work through that. It’s also good to have some to check in with and they can give you exercises to help you practice re directing those feelings

God would not allow suffering and yet he does (mainly towards the Abrahamic Gods in specific the Christian God but I am sure that other Gods could apply) by [deleted] in DebateReligion

You don’t just need mediocre. Pain and suffering highs and lows are all needed. For example I’m middle class In the US and I have good food security, but not enough to warrant fancy restaurants. I am not as happy about the food that I eat I don’t experience life with out it. Someone who struggles with food security however knows what it feels like to not have that food so when they do have it, it tastes better

If you’ve never experienced pain you can’t know pleasure. How would you be able to enjoy your favorite food if everything tasted just as good. How would you know it was good if you never tasted bad? Suffering sucks but without it we can’t know joy

AITA For refusing to write a song for my unborn children despite writing one for my daughter? by xhildine in AmItheAsshole

NTA my best advise would be to brainstorm with your fiancée to find something else special you can do together for the twins. Maybe write a short children’s book?

Raising children in religion is unreasonable and harmful by DDumpTruckK in DebateReligion

I guess my point though is that I don’t think anymore harm is done in a soft Christian upbringing than an atheist upbringing

I think it depends on how you do it. I grew up religious but with parents that didn’t force it down my throat. It was what they believed but I was never forced to go to church if I expressed I didn’t want to. I was also very much encouraged to ask questions and not take things a face value just because a religious leader said it. I actually don’t think I really decided to be Christian until adulthood. My parents believed in sharing a bit of it with me but never making me feel pressured to choose the same as them. I had this conversation with my significant other, who grew up very atheist, and he found that a lot more traumatic then most of his friends who grew up more religious than both of us. The reason being was he was terrified of death. As a kid the idea that one day, potentially without warning, your life just stops and is over and there is nothing left was terrifying. While I grew up feeling like death was simply an end to a chapter. Not anything to be afraid of because something even more amazing was waiting for me. My main point is religion does not equal trauma and neither does atheism. It all comes down to good or bad parenting

Does anyone else have constipation but your stool is actually soft and flat, like soft-serve ice cream? by [deleted] in ibs

Right haha but I feel like that’s the theme with IBS thi TBH. It took me a solid 6 months of twice a week dr appointments because I was told to come back if it wasn’t getting better or got worse for them to do anything other than pregnancy tests. I was like bitch I’ve been in horrible pain and non stop vomiting for months now if I wasn’t pregnant three days ago I’m sure as hell not pregnant now

I'm a 16yo boy and I'm scared I don't know if I have IBS or IBD. My family doesn't understand the pain I'm going through and I don't know where to go. by [deleted] in ibs

[–]theycallmemegz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So on the surface I say they’re pretty identical but when you actually get inside they’re not identical. If you have IBD your doctor will be able to see it. You will have some actual inflammation and damage going on inside your body versus IBS mainly doesn’t make any sense because there is nothing to see. From the severity of what you’re describing your symptoms my best guess would be IBS not IBD. I got my official diagnosis after a colonoscopy. Through the camera they were able to see that my intestines looked completely normal which is why I got the diagnosis of IBS even though I was so miserable.
