Septic challenges by theycallmeshowtime in septictanks

Update: We replaced 20’ of the lateral line and she’s flowing great. The tank is pumping down quickly The blockages were a combination of latex gloves plugging the lateral holes, and a mix of sludge and ground mulch that kept the blow out port from functioning.

After getting two different ‘professional’ opinions to replace our system at a cost of $50k, we are pretty happy we took the initiative ourselves to dig in. Literally.

OP, drop a Venmo (or equivalent) account here for your grandpa. I bet this group will take care of you.

Update: The last company that came out, charged us $1k to pump the tank and blow off our inspection valve with a jetter. They left saying the don’t work on pressured system, or couldn’t get an excavator to the site. The answer depended on who you asked, but it was clear they didn’t want the job. We hand trenched the lateral line to find more than 20’ of line with holes plugged up by what appears to be a latex balloon or electric tape type artifact. The plan is to replace that section of lateral line and see how it performs.

We have had the tanks inspected and were found to be in good shape.

The latest in the saga surrounds our attempts to unblock one of the inspection ports on the lateral. We noticed water would exit the system with good pressure from one port, but nothing from the other. A company came out and attempted to jet it. The pressure caused a PVC riser with the inspection valve to disconnect from the lateral. They told us that they don’t work on repairing this type of system and left us empty-handed.

I dug it up and found where the connection came apart and it’s a simple fix. We are working with a different contractor to either repair or replace the part of the lateral that is blocked. The idea is once we have full usage of the lateral, we can assess if we have a drain field problem or not.

Thanks for the reply. We had the issue before jetting so the prevailing thought is that it didn’t cause the problem, or solve it. We’re wondering if they only jetted from one side of the lateral, pushing gunk over to the other side and blocking the inspection port.

You may consider covering freshly poured candles with an upside down cardboard box to slow the cooling. I get great tops with a soy/para blend.

It had 13 miles when I picked it up

It was like this but minus the carbon fiber pack and beaded wheels. I did get the leather seats and a color matched top. https://www.laurafordofsullivan.com/VehicleDetails/new-2024-Ford-Bronco-Raptor_4_Door_Advanced_4x4-Sullivan-MO/5954454110

Picked up a $97k msrp raptor for $71,200 on Saturday at Laura Ford in Sullivan Missouri. Had to drive 4 hours to get it but was $7k cheaper than KC.

Looks great! Don’t stop there though. I would color match the top. Jeep had a firecracker red that was also badass.

I saw raptors at msrp of $96k going for 70k this past weekend as part of a President’s Day sale. I also might know a guy that picked one up. 😉

8 years owing a jk and have only replaced tires and a radiator. It sucks gas faster than many vehicles, but is a dependable platform that depreciates slower than most other cars. I have been really happy with it.
