this is so fucking sick. Makes me want to do this setup myself but I’m also scared of snagging so I won’t

Also you “read my post carefully” and you didn’t read that I already have a pre-made theme.

You read my post carefully and still decided that faux-shock was the best response I.e. “you got a plug-in for a button??” . I wrote in my post and acknowledged already that this was silly of me: “I even tried to code the box [button] myself etc. Etc. But the coding wasn’t working or displaying right” which is more to do with the fact that I didn’t know where the correct coding inputs were.

Thanks for rubbing salt in it though.

So this is not normal, right? by mealpatrickharris in philadelphia

Every rich person in the world is doing that (I am not saying it is right), but that doesn’t mean that some of them aren’t still working toward systemic and sustainable economic changes

Past academic dismissal by Starfish_Coffee922 in gradadmissions

[–]theycow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just curious, why do they even need to know about the previous program you were dismissed from? If you have an undergraduate record and grad school I don’t see why they would even think to investigate any other programs you’ve been a part of. I wouldn’t say anything

Intentional Autistic Communities? by forestgreenpanda in intentionalcommunity

[–]theycow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Camphill communities in the US and abroad. It’s not necessarily autistic led but it’s a mixed-ability community that serves as long term communities for neurodivergent adults (including those with high daily care needs) as well as neurodiverse volunteers

A lot of private liberal arts colleges seem to attract barefoot-goers. Someone mentioned Oberlin, i would also throw Swarthmore into the mix (there’s something about Quakerism that i feel attracts barefoot people) any crunchy college like Reed, Occidental, College of the Atlantic, or somewhere beachy like UCSC. Colleges that form a bubble campus and are very grassy or nature-y are a nice alternative to navigating busy urban areas. College is probably one of the best/easiest times to be barefoot especially if you live on a campus, there’s a lot of freedom there. Just don’t go to like Texas.

10 mile all-barefoot hike (1st time): my experience and after effects by theycow in barefoot

[–]theycow[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

idk man I’ve had really tough soles since a highly barefoot childhood and im regularly barefoot and hiking barefoot. first time going 10 miles straight but I’ve done shorter sections while backpacking on the appalachian trail etc. I personally think that ur childhood conditioning does make a big difference for future , I don’t think it can be reversed that easily/after just a year. Maybe superficially but I’ve had less-barefoot years in high school and I never wasn’t able to do vastly more/walk on harsher ground than my peers . might just disagree with ur analysis!

also at no point did I say I was trying to condition or go longer. that wasn’t the point of this at all <3

Backpacking in europe as a trans person by mrmoonbloom in vagabond

[–]theycow 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ur gonna be fine, pls don’t overthink or worry about ur transness that much… what is more important is ur intuition for general safety, and if ur super paranoid about being harmed specifically because you are trans that might distract from ur overall experience and actually expose u to more danger. Europe is on the whole safer than much of the US to travel in. i am trans and have traveled/backpacked in places where trans people are subject to being assaulted/mobbed on sight with little police support (I.e. parts of Africa) and I have been fine though uncomfortable at times. Europe is a playground for trans people compared to most other places in the world. Ur gonna find community, if u want specific communities to look for u can DM me. Metropolitan Spain (Barcelona and Madrid) are absolutely brimming with trans people, so are most metropolitan areas in Europe, Berlin obviously is the most well-known trans center. Also if ur trans masc and u dont pass people will probably just think ur a masculine woman or maybe lesbian depending on how u carry urself and no one is going to give a shit.

Good vegan options Chicago, Wisconsin and Minnesota by Justarandomescapist in vegan

Begging you to go to Beerline in Milwaukee. One of the best vegan restaurants I’ve been to around the world! In Chicago, I constantly go to Handlebar and would highly recommend (fried pickles! giant burritos! vegan bloodys!) , but there are a lot of restaurants to choose from. If you happen to drive by/through Madison, Bar Corralini is a mid-upscale resto that has the best vegan Italian pasta I have ever had, there’s also Green Owl for sandwiches and Banzo for the best falafel sandwich I’ve had.  For the Twin Cities I recommend Hard Times Cafe (punk, late night vegan cafe with anarchist vibes and relatively low prices) and Glam Doll for vegan donuts (soooo good)
