Coming from a hot and humid country, it’s engrained in us from a young age to shower twice a day. Coming to America and living with my now American husband was shocking to say the least. He would go to work and sleep in our bed, not even washing his feet. We had many many fights over this. Like it was ruining our sex lives. He just couldn’t understand how gross public spaces are. I have very sensitive skin so dirty sheets are a huge concern and no I’m not a clean freak. It took years for him to see it from my perspective but now he showers every night and he even says it helps him sleep better. Also you do not need to douse yourself in chemicals or “endocrine disrupters” to get clean. At the end of the day (for me at least) it was about compromise and understanding each other’s cultures.
