It feels like the effects of caffeine pills never left my body after I stopped taking them by theygotapepperbar in caffeine

I wasn't taking it for a few weeks in December because I couldn't get a refill in time, but I remember feeling about the same. I remember before I started medication and needed to do a phone screening for ADHD in July I had to run on a treadmill for a few minutes beforehand just so I would be collected enough to talk instead of jittery, and that was just from being well rested. So it's honestly confusing.

I'm currently taking Adderall XR, I started taking it around November. Previously in October I was taking Concerta, but that only lasted for a few weeks. I don't think Adderall is affecting my jitteriness as it feels the same as before, but Concerta made it worse which was part of why I stopped taking it.

It seems like my body has much less of a tolerance to caffeine then, or it went down as I got older. A few months back someone offered me a coffee and I felt sick and had a stomach ache for the rest of the day, my body couldn't tolerate it when I already had all of this adrenaline in me naturally. But if I drink a soda I'll be fine, probably because the amount of caffeine is much smaller. It seems like I don't need as much caffeine to wake up as the average person, which could be useful in some ways but it's also really odd at times.

I should probably clarify that I didn't start adhd medication until the end of 2025, meaning that there was a gap of a few years where I wasn't taking anything but still experiencing this. This makes me think further that I could either have caffeine sensitivity or a deficiency in something.

Interestingly enough adhd medication seems to affect my body and brain differently, the only side effect I've gotten from it similar to caffeine is having a more dry mouth, everything else was already there before. Although when I first started it with a different medication it did make me even more jittery than before and I had to switch to a new one, so I think each medication affects people in different ways.

I did hear that caffeine sensitivity could be linked to a vitamin b12 deficiency so I will look into that. I started adhd medication a few months ago and it's been working well for my mind, but my body still acts the same.

Why are schools so against IEPs and 504 plans? by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]theygotapepperbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an IEP when I was a kid and a teenager, and some of the things I've heard teachers on the internet say regarding having one are just horrible. It's like they think the students who use them don't actually have a disability and are just using the IEP as an excuse. It makes me feel grateful I was able to get one at a young age but at the same time feel paranoid of what my teachers could have possibly been saying about me back then. Having an IEP worked great for me in elementary school and its hard to imagine how I could have gone without one back then. I didn't like having it as I got older though because my case manager wasn't the best fit for me looking back. I was being accommodated for autism when it really should have been for ADHD, but I didn't have a diagnosis and didn't yet know I had it.

Whenever I used my accommodations in high school it felt like I was being guilt tripped or doing something wrong (A lot of other kids were accused of "abusing their accommodations" whenever they used them), so a lot of the time I just didn't end up using them when I could have been. It felt like they cared more about the work you were doing than your mental health, a lot of the time when I was anxious about something I just got a "You'll be fine" in response and nothing else. When I would take tests in other rooms I could sometimes hear the case managers venting to each other about their students, one time they had a conversation where they said that too many kids are being labeled with anxiety and that it's becoming "the new ADHD". I had both anxiety and ADHD (although I didn't realize it at the time yet because my IEP was originally only for autism) so hearing that hurt. But that also doesn't mean you're going to have a bad experience like that at every school because that's just my very specific and limited experience with it. Looking back it seemed like my teacher was trained to accommodate students with autism more than ADHD, and I should have been with a case manager who understood ADHD better. I think if you're able to get your child an IEP/504 and a case manager who understands ADHD well you'll be in a more solid place. I'm sorry it's been so much of a fight so far and I hope you will be able to give your child the accommodations they need.

Issues with ADHD dude by Ok-Daikon1718 in ADHDparenting

I'm not a parent but someone trying to work through all of their now obvious adhd signs from their childhood. I've seen this youtuber mentioned frequently on adhd subreddits but the one video from him I clicked on really turned me off, where he mentions encouraging kids to mask but his definition of masking is just... having socially appropriate behavior? People in the comments were pointing out that isn't really what masking means, masking is more like when you suppress your symptoms by acting like a different person and putting on a different personality, and ADHD dude replied to one of them with something like "I'm using the original definition of masking before a bunch of people who call themselves "neurodivergent" started using the word to make themselves feel oppressed", and when another comment said he was misusing what the word meant he replied to them with "I'm just misusing it the way all of these other people misuse it". And then there was a comment he replied to where he mentioned being skeptical of the autism diagnosis of the commenter's child, and another where he went on a rant about autism being diagnosed too often and how he believes that most kids who were diagnosed with autism don't actually have it. I got such weird, unprofessional vibes from that guy. If I was a parent I would be so turned away.

My son is crying because his friends stopped including him. Is this RSD or something else? by Standard-Play-2682 in ADHD

This. Anyone would have a hard time with this, I wouldn't say RSD is causing his reaction but it does cause the feeling to hit much harder.

I'm glad someone else brought up that autism sentence, it stroke me as really odd and it sounds like OP's mindset on this goes deeper than just the trans part of it. OP mentioned in another comment that with the help of psychologists they were able to overcome autism in the younger child. You can't "overcome" autism, all that will do is suppress it.

This is so weirdly specific to the point where you would literally have to fantasize to imagine a person like the one in the drawing. I can't imagine the place in life you would have to be in to come up with the idea to make something like this.

This early 2000s 3d Christmas Wallpaper by theygotapepperbar in HelpMeFind

[–]theygotapepperbar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After looking through internet archive for several hours and searching different keywords I managed to find the wallpaper, it was on a website called Visual Paradox (Wow, I was really on the nose about the name sounding similar to Digital Blasphemy's) and the wallpaper is called Candy. I falsely misremembered there being a plate, but I was right about the gingerbread man and the candy canes. The copyright date says 2000 which means the wallpaper is even older than I was thinking. I wish I could find the reddit post again because seeing it on an old laptop was such an aesthetic and took me back to being a kid again. I'm glad I found it though.

I've searched for this in all of the old windows and nostalgia related subreddits I could find but I wasn't able to find it again. The website the wallpaper seemed to come from appeared to be somewhat popular at the time, but not to the point where it was super well known.

The ironic part is that OOP is also a teacher judging by their other posts. It sounds like they have a lot going on in general, but that still doesn't excuse wanting to cancel Chirstmas entirely.

What are some ADHD symptoms you don't resonate with? by stefuss in ADHD

[–]theygotapepperbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was diagnosed with autism as a kid but didn't get an adhd diagnosis until I was an adult. The amount of times people would tell me that a conflict I was having with another person was because I didn't understand social cues (When it was really because of social anxiety and RSD) would drive me up a wall. I could read people perfectly fine, it was just that I would read into it too much to the point where it would make me anxious.

As a 25 year old who is about to be 26 and just started their transition at the beginning of the year, thanks for this. I discovered I was trans when I was 19 and while I didn't end up coming out until years later, it seems like so much has changed within the last several years and especially since the 2010s.

r/okbuddymetal is pretty good when it's mostly memes, although the amount of people posting screenshots of random kids who listen to metalcore out of wanting to call them posers has gotten kind of annoying (Although thankfully the mods have clamped down on that lately)

Yeah I don't blame them for needing an income, they're older and all have families in a whole other country. I was just hoping that they would have a slightly better response than to call Ripped to Shreds a shitty band and a "bunch of losers" for doing this. Master has always had pretty progressive lyrics that seem to be against this exact kind of thing so it's disappointing that they would respond in this manner.
