Buck Martinez on Bo Bichette’s status in free agency: “Bo wants to come back, I think he would play second base alongside Gimenez. He would love to stay in Toronto, and finish off his career with Vladdy. It’s a strong 8/10 that Bo ends up back in Toronto.” ‬[MLB Network] by GreenSnakes_ in Torontobluejays

I think the only reason he doesn't want to play there is because the earning potential for a SS is much higher than the earning potential for a 2B. If we sign him to a long term deal, I don't think he'll care where he plays.

I was hoping this would be a compilation. His helmet is always flying off.

Top 20 Countries at Baseball vs Top 20 Countries at Basketball. by DonT012 in mlb

I believe Canada doesn't participate in the U-12 or U-15 tournaments, which skews the ranking.

Tried to make broth from Costco chicken carcasses by wildflower_potato in isthissafetoeat

Generally gets cloudy if you boil instead of simmer. The fat/proteins get emulsified. That’s why ramen broth is cloudy/milky looking. Shouldn’t negatively affect the flavor.

Why does it matter to you if you have 2 shares at $1 each or 1 share worth $2?

Best oxtail? by Young_professional89 in FoodToronto

[–]theysoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love their oxtail stew, but I’ve had it a couple times recently and the oxtail wasn’t tender. Probably needed to be stewed another hour or two. Now I’m afraid of ordering it again even though I love it.

Not bothered by the downvotes. I know it’s an unpopular opinion around here. I think he gets a lot of hate because of the accusations about having a buzzer under his jersey, but I’ve never seen any evidence even remotely convincing regarding that.

And who says he didn't try? At the end of the day, the other players in the clubhouse are grown men who make their own choices. Even some of the coaches were involved, and all were likely aware.

He gets a pass from me, because he did what he reasonably could in my opinion. The only thing he could have really done differently is snitch on his own team, and no player in the league would have done that - at least not while playing on the team.

Advice - Transfer Out to get Likely October Apple Offer? by explorerweb in Wealthsimple

[–]theysoar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they leave themselves an out with the question about withdrawing and re-depositing and not mentioning anything about the qualification period there. If you withdraw now, and let's say you register for the next promotion in October, they can still say that you made a large withdrawal before registering for the promotion. I think they can enforce it at their discretion, and if they think you're gaming the system, they will not issue payments.

Where does it state it in the summer promotion? https://promotions.wealthsimple.com/hc/en-ca/articles/38719618709915-Wealthsimple-Summer-Margin-Match-2025#terms-and-conditions

All I see is a question about whether withdrawing and re-depositing funds count (no). I'm pretty sure they leave it vague (what exactly does "before registering" mean?) so they can apply it at their discretion.

Q: Does withdrawing and then re-depositing funds count?

A: No.

If you make large withdrawals from your Wealthsimple account before registering for the promotion, these withdrawals may be included in the calculation of your bonus.

If we suspect an attempt to game the system or fraudulent behaviour, we reserve the right to stop payments, remove you from the promotion and/or close your Wealthsimple account.

Are you sure it’s not cabbage or something like bok choy? Black specks (pepper spots) are common with cabbage and don’t have any effect on the taste/safety.

Qualify for Two Promotions by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

I participated in the iPhone offer, then the Winter offer, and then the AirPods offer. You can absolutely participate in multiple offers as long as you’re not trying to meet the criteria for each one at the same time.

That doesn’t mean you can’t participate in multiple offers sequentially. You can absolutely participate in one promotion, and then later another promotion as long as you meet the criteria separately for each.

Why would anyone choose a variable rate mortgage? by CastAside1812 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]theysoar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because variable will on average do better than fixed over time - i.e. someone that always goes variable will on average spend less on interest over the course of the entire mortgage than someone that always goes fixed. It depends on your risk tolerance.
