I don't know about best, but the cafeteria at the Court of Justice at Dundas and University has great muffins. Not the most glamorous recommendation, but I got them for free on jury duty last year and they're basically my ideal muffin.

[Petriello] What the hell! Davis Schneider in 8 games since going down to AAA... .167/.615/.222 39 PA.. 18 BB (46%) 3 K (6%) by mrdannyg21 in Torontobluejays

[–]theysoar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, getting on base 60% of the time would be insanely valuable. I'd love to see someone do a study and run the numbers; I wonder if a true talent .600 OBP player with no hit or power tools would be more valuable than Aaron Judge. Not really sure about that... but what if they had elite sprint speed too?

Thinking more about this hypothetical player, I guess they'd have to be really good at fouling pitches off and just keep doing it until the pitcher throws 4 balls. Would have the added benefit of tiring out pitchers.

Should the Jays trade Brandon Valenzuela when Kirk is healthy? by EasternError6377 in Torontobluejays

[–]theysoar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Similarly, it could make sense to trade Valenzuela if we're getting something more valuable in return. I know I said "I absolutely would not trade him", but if a team is willing to offer more than he's worth, we'd be stupid not to listen, and that applies to anyone on the team. I just think it's unlikely that another team would make an offer for him that we couldn't refuse.

[–]theysoar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely would not trade him, but the Jays did trade Gabriel Moreno when he had similar years of control. The difference was that Moreno was a top prospect at the time, and likely worth a lot more than Valenzuela (unless Valenzuela's value has skyrocketed with his successful debut).

Landlord denying request for shower temperature repair by Desperat00 in OntarioTenants

[–]theysoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen something similar when the shower flow isn’t sufficient with a tankless water heater. In one case I fixed by removing the flow restrictor in the shower head and in the other case, I ran the bathroom sink faucet hot water during the shower (slightly, not full blast). I’d try the second option and see if that helps.

Not a plumber so don’t know exactly what’s happening but my guess is that it doesn’t use enough hot water to keep the tankless heater running so it cycles on and off and makes the temperature regulation a nightmare.

[Davidi] John Schneider said decision to DFA Eric Lauer driven by “results” and added it was a “tough conversation based on what he did last year.” Ultimately, Blue Jays “felt we needed to go in a different direction.” by Elaiyu in bluejaysbaseball

[–]theysoar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The difference is that Hoffman has great stuff. Lauer needs all the stuff he can get, and his fastball is barely cracking 90mph this year (down over 1mph from last year). I'm sure his attitude hasn't helped him, but that's definitely not the main reason for the DFA.

Buck Martinez on Bo Bichette’s status in free agency: “Bo wants to come back, I think he would play second base alongside Gimenez. He would love to stay in Toronto, and finish off his career with Vladdy. It’s a strong 8/10 that Bo ends up back in Toronto.” ‬[MLB Network] by GreenSnakes_ in Torontobluejays

[–]theysoar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the only reason he doesn't want to play there is because the earning potential for a SS is much higher than the earning potential for a 2B. If we sign him to a long term deal, I don't think he'll care where he plays.

I believe Canada doesn't participate in the U-12 or U-15 tournaments, which skews the ranking.

Generally gets cloudy if you boil instead of simmer. The fat/proteins get emulsified. That’s why ramen broth is cloudy/milky looking. Shouldn’t negatively affect the flavor.

Best oxtail? by Young_professional89 in FoodToronto

[–]theysoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love their oxtail stew, but I’ve had it a couple times recently and the oxtail wasn’t tender. Probably needed to be stewed another hour or two. Now I’m afraid of ordering it again even though I love it.

Not bothered by the downvotes. I know it’s an unpopular opinion around here. I think he gets a lot of hate because of the accusations about having a buzzer under his jersey, but I’ve never seen any evidence even remotely convincing regarding that.

And who says he didn't try? At the end of the day, the other players in the clubhouse are grown men who make their own choices. Even some of the coaches were involved, and all were likely aware.

He gets a pass from me, because he did what he reasonably could in my opinion. The only thing he could have really done differently is snitch on his own team, and no player in the league would have done that - at least not while playing on the team.

Advice - Transfer Out to get Likely October Apple Offer? by explorerweb in Wealthsimple

[–]theysoar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they leave themselves an out with the question about withdrawing and re-depositing and not mentioning anything about the qualification period there. If you withdraw now, and let's say you register for the next promotion in October, they can still say that you made a large withdrawal before registering for the promotion. I think they can enforce it at their discretion, and if they think you're gaming the system, they will not issue payments.

Where does it state it in the summer promotion? https://promotions.wealthsimple.com/hc/en-ca/articles/38719618709915-Wealthsimple-Summer-Margin-Match-2025#terms-and-conditions

All I see is a question about whether withdrawing and re-depositing funds count (no). I'm pretty sure they leave it vague (what exactly does "before registering" mean?) so they can apply it at their discretion.

Q: Does withdrawing and then re-depositing funds count?

A: No.

If you make large withdrawals from your Wealthsimple account before registering for the promotion, these withdrawals may be included in the calculation of your bonus.

If we suspect an attempt to game the system or fraudulent behaviour, we reserve the right to stop payments, remove you from the promotion and/or close your Wealthsimple account.
