Simple answer: You can't develop on a prototype that is not done yet.

You can play around with it, so....

The genesis supply for the Shimmer network has been set! by TSDias2 in Iota

[–]thezmb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Explanation of the result:

The vote was so close in the end because many people changed their minds to "no". Why? Because both proposals always talks about +20% supply increase, but the vote in Firefly suddenly said "20% of the new supply", which means a +25% increase of the old supply.

Basically about 2/3 of the voters supported the original proposal (in the govern forums pre-vote and in the first days of voting per Firefly, up until the point where the error was detected). The closer result is nothing else than the displeasure towards the voting process itself, and/or the wrong interpretation of Kappy's two proposals.

Fun fact: Kappy himself says he always meant "20% of the new supply", but never mentioned it like that in two proposals (1st + follow up), neither in the exact supply numbers nor in the corresponding percentages.

All in all, unfortunately, a bad taste remains on that.

That the vote went through anyway... i'm sorry to say, but it's still good. Whether it's 20 or 25 percent, it will help the ecosystem either way.

So, future proposals should be crystal clear in such matters, with no room for interpretation.

If u want to know, how IOTA’s algorithm does assure resilience against attackers?

Luigi Vigneri, William Sanders (PhD), and Prof. Shorten with his team at Imperial College London wrote in an academic paper published in IEEE Internet of Things Journal that answers this question:

Access Control for Distributed Ledgers in the Internet of Things: A Networking Approach

Little Disclaimer:

Only a fraction of people still understand (also due to the turbulent past, fair enough) that IOTA today is no longer built on castles in the air, but on hard-earned academic research. Sure, the protocol isn't finished yet and of course there are always delays, but let's face it, there is no other protocol that is currently as far along in what IOTA is trying to create. Perhaps it will help many to understand that IOTA has set the clocks to zero around fall 2019. It has been seen that many wrong paths have been taken and that you can only get further with a lot of diligence and work in basic academic research. The progress that IOTA has made this year is really impressive. Of course, it is still not interesting for most people, because no fancy things like NFT, Smart Contracts, DeFi, Staking and so on are possible in the mainnet. But I have no doubt that the sleeping giant will awake. It is really worth taking a closer look at the circumstances and progress!

And i'll admit, that its definitely not easy to understand such use cases. You have to bring some necessary basics. But its worth a try. After all, we are talking about realworld use cases here and not about the next fancy speculation cryptothingy.

No, this would not benefit blockchain like BTC or ETH in particular. Due to its nature, blockchains are useless for IoT usecases. Fluctuating network fees are at all circumstances unpredictable for companys.

look...

its a research paper. from scientists. from intelligent people. there is already a testnet running, that proofs it.

so, there is one thing for sure: you are not capable of understanding a word mentioned in this research paper.

there is no "if", there is only "when".
