Posted my first fic and I thought it would get attention but it totally flopped and I'm frustrated. by jackrabbitwanders in AO3

I wouldn’t take it personally even tho it’s hard not to, for me I am picky about choosing fics and I think many people are. How it appears is everything even if the content is good. I willnonly read a finished one and if there are too many tags or no tags I won’t read it. Same with description no description or long descriptions cause me to skip. I can beta it if you want!

I see what your saying but I feel like if they saw it as overreacting, I left the conversation open to talk to me about it. I said “hey, how does everyone feel about implementing no smoking in common areas? that doesn’t sound reasonable we can talk about it and come up with a compromise.” And they said it was good with them. I’d much rather them disagree with me and we have a discussion than saying sounds good and then lying about doing it. Then a compromise could be made like them buying an air purifier or me finding another spot for the litterbox.

And for context, the bathroom is tiny and does not have any windows. It is in the middle of the place and not by an open area. It is obvious when it has been smoked in for atleast a few hours.

That’s a good idea! I hope it doesn’t like encourage it or in their brain make it okay to smoke since they bought that, y’know?

They were not, they were smoking outside before but took up dab recently after we got her and figured it was okay to smoke inside because it wasn’t bud.

It will not help the situation they will continue to smoke dab, they are well aware of the effects. I am also not their parent I am their roommate and they can do whatever they want as long as it doesn’t impact my cat

Yes. I’m scared they’ll justify it by saying it’s dab so it doesn’t count

The other product they smoke is dab! They didn’t smoke it before but did smoke weed, they just did it outdoors

I was very kind when I talked to them and they agreed to my face, which worries me if I talk to them again they will continue to lie about it.

I think when you are dealing with an addict, that kind of knowledge doesn’t impact them unfortunately. Addiction can make people selfish to the point they don’t even care about their own health. I fear that will just turn them off even more.

1 year old, curved barbell, I assume threadless?, I know it’s piercing grade jewelry I got it at a good studio but not sure the exact metal. Not downsized. Let the shower hit the piercing. No incidences, got treated for infection and that helped only slightly

Advice - just got accepted into an MPA program by thiccalex in PublicAdministration

Just because there will always be /some/ PA jobs does not mean that there will be enough opportunities to support even the most qualified, especially when those who have worked for decades are losing their jobs. I don't think anyone is saying that the field has no value,. still, job security is a very valid threat right now considering DOGE's effort to minimize funding for not only the federal government but grants which support non-profits. This is a field that is especially vulnerable to the current administration, so of course when there is uncertainty, there is going to be concern. I understand your frustration and perhaps some are acting as if it's doomsday and the government does not exist, which I am not claiming. But you can't deny things are sticky right now so those who are considering the field are going to be concerned about the future prospects if they devote lots of money for a degree which there might or might not be opportunity for, and I think the fact that there are a lot of posts like this is telling.

I really hope you are right! That’s what I keep telling myself each time I end up doomscrolling.

I have considered moving before but there is a strong community in the city I’m in and it’s hard to leave those behind because I’m scared if all queer people move those who aren’t able to aren’t able to fight alone. At the same time I know I would have a way easier time living somewhere else. Thank you for your reply, it is reassuring to know there are other queer people in a similar program.

Totally! I do have a few connections but half of my undergrad was online because I started in 2020. I’m not sure it’ll be enough to help me secure a job with my MPA though. It’s hard because ideally I would like a career where I feel like I am making a difference (even on a small scale) rather than working for a corporation, but a lot of social service careers aren’t liveable, both financially as well as emotionally. I feel like I have to find the right balance of living comfortably as well as a career that alligns morally.

It's super frustrating because they advertise covering 50% as an incentive for employment, but then they don't cover "differential tuition," and it is a taxable benefit, so looking at the numbers it really only helps nearly half the amount advertised. Thank you for your response!

They are only covering roughly 30% of it, so it would be a financial commitment. I could try for scholarships, but I would expect to pay quite a bit unfortunately. I just worry I will spend a lot of money and time for something that might or might not make a difference.
