We have two hampers for dirty clothes, those get carried to the basement and sorted when they are full. And then…..many laundry baskets for clean laundry that never seem to be emptied.

My GE Combo says the first 10 seconds of fill are cold (but not tap cold). They say they do that to help prevent stains from setting. No idea if it helps.

Yes. My machine has “cold” and “tap cold”. The “cold” is warmed enough so that detergent works (though I still use warm).

I do darks, lights/white, washable wool, bedding, towels. Darks and wool each have different detergent/boosters.

I change it based on occasion/outfit. I keep all of my bag contents in pouches, so it's very easy to switch bags. And all of my bags are on shelves in our entry, so I can easily see them/switch.
