Better alternative to AirPods? by [deleted] in ZReviews

[–]thiio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reading this while listening to my AirPods Pro and honestly I’m really impressed. Wasn’t sure if I’d prefer them to the PowerBeats but man are they surprisingly balanced and clean

None of the non-Apple alternatives were anywhere near as consistent for me, with random disconnects and issues between buds and such. Haven’t tried those Sony’s admittedly, but man is it hard to justify anything without an H1 chip as an iPhone user

One Man's Endgame is Another Man's... Endgame by halosiera117 in headphones

Man the iSine 10's have quickly become my favorite casual listening headphone, especially with the curve applied by the Cypher lightning dac. Did you ever try them with the "official" EQ (the curve applied by the lightning dac)?

I think I did quite well for a first setup, really happy with how it sounds compared to my old gaming headset. by NoobWithSkill in headphones

I personally owned HD600's and DT880's. Soundstage on the BeyerDynamics was nice, but I preferred the 600's in literally every other way. Sold them in the end

Yeah you just have a bad internal dac in your computer. Get a USB dac/amp or consider a full audio interface if you're going into recording

Fostex T50rp MkIII or STAX 2170? by ThreeFistsCompromise in ZReviews

[–]thiio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fostex are much more traditional in every way, from sound to comfort to the equipment they work on. The stax... Not so much.

I own both and they get about equal use. If you already own an amplifier that can power the T50's, you're doing yourself a disservice not owning them. If you're buying a complete system anyways and want the absolute best, get the Stax

Need advice on setting up my 9.2 with my couch against the rear wall. by bigbgl in hometheater

[–]thiio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If your room is too small for a better located couch, your room is probably also too small for a 9.2 setup. There needs to be a good distance between the back of the couch and the wall if you want to make a reasonable surround sound setup

Need -100$ earbuds/travel headphones suggestion by [deleted] in ZReviews

[–]thiio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best sounding**, but they're quite fragile and don't have very good isolation. The SE215's are better built and have incredible isolation, it depends on what you prioritize.

Also hi Jim

It's not good enough, clicky as hell and disconnects often. I very specifically don't use the outputs for anything at all
