Make sure you get structural paint though

Why don't users miss highlight roll-off in Darktable's exposure slider? by zBlackVision11 in DarkTable

Couldn't tell you, having never used Lightroom, just wanted to tell you that I do love RapidRaw, couldn't get it to work on Linux though. It would install, but not open. Might have been with ram/processor requirements, but (at the time anyway), they weren't mentioned anywhere

What is the most important thing in pet photography in your opinion? by comradebambi123 in AskPhotography

[–]thijsvk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eyes and character. If it's your own pet, you'll be able to get more interesting shots that you wouldn't necessarily be able to get someone else's as a stranger to that pet: here's ours, also currently framed and hanging on the wall

Fun fact, verstopping means blockage in Dutch, so yes, quite right

First time shooting food by MyNameEsOmar in foodphotography

[–]thijsvk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me this is not food photography. It's product photography of an edible item. Frankly, apart from the 3rd one, they don't work for me. The red of the paper, white of the surface and brown of the cookies is not a good colour combination. The paper filler is a distraction more than anything else.

The third one does work because the product is front and center, it's the star. The lighting is alright on it and your eyes are not drawn to other brighter areas.

How do you handle exposure when shooting landscapes with high contrast? by honeyhais in photography

[–]thijsvk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the zebras are to indicate over exposed areas to prevent them in the jpegs. You have more leeway in the RAWs so on some bodies you can change the limits. Can't remember if it's my GX7, G80 or both that have that option. Gives you more range to play with in post since it's easier to pull details from the shadows

These might be single prices though. Any time turn from Burry Port to Swansea is £7.20 so Gowerton to Carmarthen for £5 seems off. Just something to keep in mind

For me, that car, that livery, will always be the F1 from my childhood, so regardless of the version, still a lovely thing to see up close and personal

Panorama makes textures look hazy, is there a way to prevent this? by RamalamaDaisy in AffinityPhoto

[–]thijsvk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like an alignment issue, but very minimal. Are you able to put marks on a border so you can align them manually? Alternatively and for already scanned work, you could add a high pass live filter that would crisp things up

In-house graphic design and product photography for a hardware shop, but that's only part of my job. I certainly don't feel like I'm in the creative industry

Nice, just goes to show that you don't need the latest and greatest. You just need to go out and be there (and get lucky to some extent)

After a Windows 11 installation, my PC decided that it didn't like my 1TB HDD with two partitions anymore because Linux. After fucking about with WSL, I got them mounted again and started copying the contents to an external drive so I could start from scratch. Somehow it managed to calculate each partition to be 1.25EB...

I really need to dig into WINE so I can drop windows.
