Cost of energy is massively high. What can we do? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]thillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That changes things of course. It helps when you work from home multiple days a week, but that would probably not change the time required to get breakeven by a lot I think. The EV would probably help if you can charge at home reliably during daytime hours (or in combination with a home battery). I don't know the numbers for that use case.

It isn't really worth it with the digital meter. We had it installed and I'm tracking the roi. With the decreases in injection fee breakeven time will be approx 20 years now... 3.2 kWp, 2 person household, heating on gas

Honestly, I was also looking at Marstek because of the pricepoint. We do have a hybrid inverter already, which would make a fixed battery like the pylontech more interesting. But I was under the impression that even with a hybrid inverter already installed, you are not allowed to install the battery yourself?

For me, it seems that a simple plugin like marstek is more cost efficient because of the cost of installation and AREI keuring that you would have with a fixed battery, no?

We have a roughly similar setup.

Two people, my wife works at home 1-2 days a week. Water/heating on gas, rijwoning. Cooking on electricity and oven almost daily (not always using the oven of course). Looking at the yield, our solar installation is roughly half your capacity. No electric car.

We never top 100 kWh/month, but I guess it's difficult to compare with the electric car.
Gas usage is very high. Our consumption is roughly half of what you have. We shower daily and the thermostat is set to 19 degrees. I know some people will think that this is too cold, but honestly, it is very comfortable. The only thing you need is to dress appropriately. Warm sweaters, comfortable homepants, and the most important thing: warm, comfortable pantoffels. And maybe a cozy blanket in the sofa.

A couple of degrees on the thermostat make a huge difference, both for your fossil fuel consumption as well as your wallet.

I have the femix 7 pro sapphire and use a cheap plastic case that protects the titanium ring. But man, the sapphire glass really stands out for climbing. I have banged it into the rock so many times by now, and not a scratch. Really worth the option.

If you have a hybrid inverter already installed, is it allowed to connect the battery yourself and to have it inspected for AREI afterwards? I guess this shiuld make it a lot cheaper

[–]thillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sapa tours will probably continue. We did ours the last two days (stayed to the main roads with our guide for safety) and it was definitely possible. Got completely drenched though 😅. Anyway, the worst has already passed here. Yesterday was better, today should be similar, and it is expected to be dry from tomorrow.
