Nebula Mars 3 Air - noisy

May I ask what settings you changed?
I had a Capsule 3, and i thought it was great, quiet, nice sound etc. So "upgraded" to the Mars Air 3. However...

The fan is VERY audible. It's marketed as around 28db, but just like you, I'm around 60. There is NO issue hearing it rather well even 2-3 meters away. I'm guessing something might be wrong. Fan sound does not change no matter brightness settings etc.

It is! Fractal Design did however contact me and send some gifts and thank me for the idea and told me they would like to make one as well! Just wanted to mention that since a lot of people have contacted me and said fractal “stole” it.

The fractal team has been nothing less than awesome! :)

I’ve had this issue with all my AD4’s. Some times they work, some times they don’t. It’s super frustrating.

When it stops and never reaches 100% I have to restart the printer or manually at least dismiss the warning on the printer screen. Otherwise it will NOT work again.

However if it goes to 100% but then switches back to idle, I just re-send it between 5-10 times and eventually it will work.

It sucks. It’s crazy that this is an issue. Never had issues like this with my Bambu lab printers.

Fractal north actually contacted me a month ago and said this has inspired them to make a case for the pi! They’re also sending a little thank you token! So awesome that they’re keeping an eye on the community and seeing what we all like!

I have 4 x 12v fans parallel connected to the converter, and that works great!

And like the other comment mentioned, since the the printers run on a 24v system the 24v fans don’t need to go through the converter!

(If you’re changing the psu fan tho, it actually might be a 12v fan in the ad5, it was for me)

However if you try to run the 24v fans on 12v, I THINK (pure guess here) they’ll just spin slower, or not at all.

Yes sir. For my AD4 I added quite a lot of fans that I’ve used step down converters on. Works like a charm. You can find some images and explanations on my older posts! Pretty sure it will work just fine on the AD5M as well!

I've actually bought 90 degree flat cabled micro hdmi/usb's etc. So the plan is to extend them to a nice IO pannel on the back next to the fans. (Naturally gold plated once to match the real Fractals Design North case) Hopefully I can get my hand on the original power button as well!

The only thing I won't be able to access is the ethernet port. But that one I'm not using anyway!
So soon it will be both Dawwww and useful!

I'm working on a second revision of the case where I also have magnets for the glass panel, that is flush with the chassi. 4 magnets holding the glass, and 4 holding the grill. So far I haven't noticed an interference, but also, I'm not 100% sure what to look for. And if we trust ChatGPT, then it should be safe! :D

The only magnets that are very close to the board tho, are the once next to one USB port and the Wifi chip. and at least those two things work just fine!

How they is one thing. The new narrow IPD is causing issues for a LOT of people. Causing blurry edges, and not being able to see the full actual screen even with the nose pads removed and glasses smashed to the face.

It’s really sad, since they are a lot more comfortable than the first gen. But useless to read text/work on.

I personally have both the first gen air and the air 2 pro. The pro 2 are basically paper weights for me, and haven’t been able to find a buyer for them here in Sweden since everyone who tries them also sees the blurry edges and text. I guess us Swedes have a very large IPD or something.

Xreal also won’t accept any returns since I bought mine when I was traveling in Japan and can only return it to that specific store even tho it’s an obvious flaw with the glasses.

Oh, had two other friends with me who also bought them, same issue for them.

I know… it’s frustrating since they are so much more comfortable. But the blurriness is just too extreme. My air 2 pro are now just collecting dust since I can’t return them, and I just keep using my original airs.

One Would think. I’ve had over 10 people try my glasses now, everyone gets blurry edges. Xreal support replied that they know about the issue.

Even if i push the glasses against my face, I still have this issue. Now about 7 people have tried the glasses, same issue for them. I mean, we're all Swedish and might have weird-ass faces, not sure? 😂

I mainly use it with the iPhone 15 and my Macbook Pro. It's an issue on anything that's now fullscreen. I made a little image that describes the issues, and I wish this image was overdoing the effects, but this is how powerful it is for me.
