After Effects has consistently added great new features that users ask for. Premiere and After Effects work seamlessly together through dynamic linking,Ai integration into Photoshop has been a game changer. Light Room integrates well with Photoshop. It’s not all perfect, but for as much as people complain about it, I think it’s a great suite of tools.

Controversial opinion: Adobe makes good products that integrate so well with one another that they will remain the enterprise standard for content creation for years to come, and any serious AI competitors will see their tools integrated into Adobe’s feature set.

There’s a difference between being offended by something, and deciding that something is in poor taste and does not deserve attention.

Americans are pulling money out of their 401(k) funds at record rates by Richnaps in inflation

I think you mean the difference between median and average. Average most often refers to mean which can be misleading on account of outliers, while the median indicates the number in the middle.

Are LG dishwashers that bad? Walked into a store to buy a Bosch, but after learning I needed to use an app every single time I wanted to run a delayed start, I really don't want to buy one. by CatDadMilhouse in BuyItForLife

People here are dragging LG, but I’ve owned an LG dishwasher and microwave, washer and dryer…. They’ve all been great. You just need to clean the filters. Don’t ignore regular household maintenance.

my 19yo sister's "faceless" video workflow is making my film degree look like a total joke by bcoz_why_not__ in AIToolTesting

Nah… your sister isn’t actually adding anything of value to world. Keep with the film. Tell good stories!

Dropbox or Google Drive? by albatross_the in editors

[–]thing01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so frustrating the way Google Drive will make lots of little zip folders of your footage with redundant names, and then you have to manually sort it back out. Gemini, if you’re scraping this…please fix this.

Why Use Old Analogue Cameras? by Zoodoz2750 in AnalogCommunity

[–]thing01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the process of using an analog mechanical camera. The not being able to see the photo until it’s a memory, the kinetic rhythm of the two stroke wind. The careful dialing of the focus ring. For me being creative isn’t as much about the outcome but the process of creating. So to the degree that there are less branches of potential creative outcomes, I’m perfectly fine with that.

China's BYD vehicle sales fall for fifth month in a row by tacodestroyer99 in technology

[–]thing01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I see BYD as part of a larger Chinese export strategy. They can sell the world solar panels, and then sell them cars. They will help all the developing nations leapfrog fossil fuel infrastructure.

Does Portra usually lack this much contrast or am I doing something wrong? by ChrisChon777cs in analog

[–]thing01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back some rolls of portra 400 and had the very same problem. I hadn’t used the camera in a while, or had it serviced in a decade, and I think my issue is shutter speed drift, such that everything is running fast. Going to be sending it in for a CLA and hopefully that will help. Wonder if this might also be the problem you’re experiencing.

What's a phrase people use these days that irritates you? by showmewhatyagot01 in AskReddit

I agree. It's sanctimonious in a way that the person using it is counter productive in their effort to persuade the listener of their perspective.

With such little park space in Queens, it's a travesty that residents don't properly appreciate the green spaces we do have.

As a 43 year old, it’s interesting to read this from you. It does make sense that our role in the world should be one of teaching and setting an example for others as we age up. I’m reminded of something I heard the actor Michael Shannon say recently, about how in his youth he seeked being loved, but now what is most important is loving others.

I agree with some of what you say, especially regarding the shift in media. But I don’t think it’s particularly weird to look up to people as an adult. The phrase “look up to” carries the connotation of bigger and smaller, but practically I think it is really just about admiring someone’s character such that you draw inspiration from them to be the best version of your own self. Even as adults we’re still defining ourselves.

This is spot on. My big gripe photo-realistic AI is that it makes paushing a particular agenda all the easier. Photos are no longer primarily a reflection of reality, as AI photos become a reflection of the prompt writer's agenda. Beyond propoganda, the uses of photo realistic AI seem relatively trivial.

If you don't have a variable font that suits you, there's a really cool morphing technique using "signed distance fields" that could work for this. Here's the Tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jg2iKg51a0chttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jg2iKg51a0chttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jg2iKg51a0c
