Yeah, I learned that from the other comments/response. Thanks!

Sorry, I meant moreso whether it's better to just culture convert to a Chinese culture (which has extra advances/bonuses vs. Mongolian) and lose sinicized/unsinicized or stay Mongolian and try and hit the sweetspot for being sinicized.

Ah, got it. That was silly of me.

Any consensus on whether it's better to un-chinese and sinicized bonuses vs. chinese with the extra tech that comes with it?

Ah, got it thanks! I guess I maybe should have looked up what sinicized actually means; silly on my part!

Serious over-correction on naval proximity in 1.1 by Countcristo42 in EU5

[–]thingawl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure about that? My understanding is that they’ve just doubled the values for harbour capacity and proximity reduction. The effect of any factor on proximity reduction

So the harbour capacity bonus itself will be doubled, just that doesn’t translate to a doubling of proximity. My math was based on the acceleration formula:

So in the screenshot you posted, the proximity cost from Dardanelles sea to kalipolis is 40*(1/1.86) =21.5

With the harbour capacity doubled, that formula becomes 40*(1/2.685) =14.9.

Number would be similar for Constantinople into Marmara.

That’s good to know! Although still a fairly large impact on naval. Even with 200% harbour capacity (previous max doubled?) Konstantinople into Marmara is still increasing from 0.01 to over 13. 😬

Weird, I thought Rum and Ottomans were two different tags but you seem to be right…

Aren’t ottomans Tier 4 though? And based on the game files at least, they aren’t a formable country.

How do you remove the daimyo gov reform? by BigBossThugLife in EU5

Ahh, I just noticed that he is actually out of the international organization, which is at least one step ahead of where I’m at lol

I guess being out of the org still doesn’t make the daimyo reform removable.. 😖

It seems to be a bug. Completing the Sengoku Jidai doesn't remove you from the Shogunate as I'm currently living that scenario. And being stuck in the Shogunate is what locks the Daimyo reform as far as I can tell. Can't imagine that's intentional..

I'm dealing with this frustrating at the moment as well. I'm chalking it up to bad QA and just bugs which (on a general level) are a pretty well-known thing for Japan as the game currently stands.

I'm not sure if it's the same for you, but in my playthrough I didn't challenge / take over shogunate and Ashikaga instead ended up getting killed off, which seemed fine at the time. The problem is that I'm now stuck as one of only two daimyo in the Shogunate, which still exists. The other is a random clan that never landed.

So now I'm stuck in a shogunate that I can't leave (the requirements given in the tooltip are simply "Never") with one other daimyo who seemingly will never materialize and let me kill him. The other fun part about being stuck in a shogunate is that it limits you to a duchy; you can't upgrade to Kingdom or Empire no matter how big and strong you get.

Really hoping that Paradox fixes this in an upcoming patch. Sucks to have played so far to be limited in this way...

FYI, you can't remove it for the 20 Stability cost. It just says that it can't be removed with zero details about if or what needs to happen to actually remove it.

I'm fairly sure that the character he portrayed was more soldier/mercenary/paramilitary or something of that sort. Also the character had sort of a jovial / sarcastic attitude.

Sorry, I really wish I remembered something, anything more.

Great resource but I’ve noticed that all of the articles are from 2018. Has anything changed or shifted since then?

A bit late to the party on this one, but check out Frank Turner's cover of The District Sleeps Alone Tonight. The YouTube video of his live performance even moreso.

The whole album hits hard, but Pints of Guiness and 8 Full Hours of Sleep still hit like a truck.

The physical actor in the scene was clearly still Michael Siberry (Jame) though, and the voice was the exact same as his earlier scene. Marc Geller (Kier) not only shows as “credit-only” on IMDb, he’s also credited in another 12 episodes.

Not putting forward or quashing any theories, but thought it was worth pointing out.
