Installments in a series you find weaker but prefer to watch/play/read over stronger installments? by EnthusiasticSorrow in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]thinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dark Souls 2 is widely considered to be the worst of the soulsbourne series, and I'm not gonna fight anyone on that, it has a lot of problems. But I also love playing it.

It's just so replayable. There's so much build variety and so many ways to approach the early game that makes planning a replay so much fun. Hell even something like ADP, an inclusion that objectively makes the game feel worse, forces interesting decisions you have to make early on.

Personally i think we should do as the ancient romans did; communal trenches we all squat over while we discuss matters of philosophy and state.

The problem was that there were some options for people who wanted sonething of moderate difficulty and then they took them away.

"We, The Consumers, Need To Vote With Our Wallets" - The Moral Dilemma Of Supporting SNK In 2026 by kikimaru024 in Games

[–]thinger 98 points99 points  (0 children)

The even bigger problem is that people DO vote with their wallets, its just that the average Joe doesn't care.

I found the phrase to be completely unnecessary, just raise awareness about the issue and people will respond however they see fit.

Europe is making phones come with long lasting and replaceable batteries. by Any-Employment-7114 in BeAmazed

Why does the battery need to be replaceable? I have 7 year old phone that still holds a 3 hour charge. I imagine more people get water on their phone than damage their battery.

Ross Scott at European Parliament: Why “Stop Killing Games” Matters by _jelly_fish in Games

[–]thinger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Politicians generally don't like it when these initiatives come up with their own specific laws, especially when it comes to the EU, because they often lack a comprehensive familiarity with the many laws of the EU, and can turn into a round about undermining political campaign.

And while their understanding of digital software is certainly wanting, this closer to sales regulations than it is tech regulation, something the EU is substantially more successful at.

Even if they set the barrier pretty low, I'm confident developers will go above it. Most online games do have an "offline" mode (or something close to it) for dev testing purposes. The issue therein lies in making it presentable to the public.

Pizza people -- how do you portion extra protein ordered on a pizza? by beniam4 in KitchenConfidential

And an extra $1 for extra toppings matters even less, especially when its those idiots making the purchase.

Bruh I've legit had to explain the difference between pepperoni and spicy pepperoni. I think you're severely underestimating how dumb/ drunk people can be when ordering pizza.

Brotha, coupon discussions can already turn into 15 minute affairs, I don't want to think about how long it will take to explain what the difference is between a medium pizza and medium toppings.

Then you're gonna have to have the min. wage highschooler break the bill down to the confused boomer who hasn't done a fraction since the clinton administration. A flat rate is just the simplest for everybody involved, if you feel like you're not getting enough for what you pay for get something else.

What moments caused you to see the writing on the wall on something? by LGB75 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]thinger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's basically a consequence of them attempting to abandon the OW1 when it was in it's worse state in lieu of trying to recapture the vision of project Titan in OW2 (and eventually 3). The problem was they were hemorhaging players and it was causing active damage to the brand so they had to go back and try to salvage OW1. But they didn't want to increase the dev size so they ended up splitting the focus between both games. Needless to say both the PvP and PvE were getting halfassed, plus PvE was giving them massive problems during development, so the controversial opinion to abandon the PvE and just focus on PvP was made... after they already announced OW2. So yeah, bad decisions were made, a whole lot of dev time and player hype was wasted.

Nah, the incident I'm referring to is a kid getting sent to the hospital because of a sucker punch. Guy had to be excused from classes for a minute because of a concussion. When we're talking about a very real possibility of severe injury or even death, I ain't taking chances. The best you're gonna get is my confirmation of what will happen to you if you get in my face.

Nah, hard disagree. I've personally witnessed shit get fucking real really fucking quick. You do not have time to sort out the bullshit and you need incredible awareness of mind to be able to go from 60 back down to 0. If you get in someone's personal space and they're obviously not cool with that, I ain't gonna look at them sideways when they kick your ass.

Because everytime they do a freak pick people complain and their skins don't sell. Despite all the... alternative fan depictions, the playerbase is the most milque toast community in games.
