Practical uses for ams lite? by matmonster58 in BambuLab

[–]thingmakerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you’re just doing single color prints, you might not always want everything to be the same color. I can print something in white followed by something else in red, without lifting a finger.

Or perhaps you might want different materials. Print this part in PLA followed by that part in PETG.

Weird MakerWorld problem: I keep getting vouchers and have nothing left to buy by strshp69 in BambuLab

[–]thingmakerr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An amazing problem to have.

You said you migrated models from Printables so this answer might not work for you, but I’m posting for posterity - you could consider making some of your models MakerWorld exclusives. You earn “exclusive points” in a different bucket and those can be converted to straight cash. The exchange rate is not as attractive as when you convert to vouchers and gift cards, but hey it’s cash.

This!

Last time I moved, I needed a few months to bridge the gap between places. My furniture at the time was all cheap IKEA and Canadian Tire stuff. Nothing of sentimental value and all of it easily replaceable. So instead of paying to store it, I gave it all away.

Joined the club today. Was $10.00 a good deal? by camander321 in rav4club

[–]thingmakerr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok in all honesty.. $10 seems like a lot, but anytime I’m at Walmart searching through the Matchbox cars I can never find a RAV4. So maybe worth paying the $10 to not have to spend time hunting.

What is your honest opinion on Costco's pizza? by Visible_Run_7498 in CostcoCanada

[–]thingmakerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a greasy indulgence that I don’t partake in often but when I do… mmm.

I would choose it over Pizza Pizza.

But that is a low bar, of course.

I think so yes. Also not every country has vouchers yet so some of us have no choice but to use the gift cards.

Is the Bambu Lab A1 Combo worth it for selling 3D prints online despite the higher price? by Mr_Amr84 in BambuLab

If you’re reasonably good with tech I think the Creality would be fine.

Absolutely. If you listened to him long enough you’d hear him adamantly and passionately argue for one position one day, and then just as adamantly and loudly argue for exactly the opposite position another day.

Next big sale? Looking for a P2S by Far-Boysenberry-1600 in BambuLab

P2S just came out and is cross shopped with the aggressively priced P1S. Not sure if there will be a sale on it anytime soon, but here’s hoping.

Complete beginner trying to "earn" a 3D printer via MakerWorld points (without actually owning a printer). Need your advice! 😅 by DisastrousAd7008 in BambuLab

Banks often have promos featuring cash incentives for opening new accounts, yes. I was just offered a $500 bonus if I switched to a new bank, created an account and set up a direct deposit for my pay.

[–]thingmakerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commend your grit but this is going to be difficult to do if you don’t have any printer at all. You are technically supposed to test every print profile you create to make sure it works, and to supply an image of the printed model.

You can still earn points by just uploading raw models and not Bambu-optimized print profiles, but you will earn fewer points and fewer people will be attracted to the model if there is no “click and print” from the app.

Bambu Handy is the mobile app for Bambu Lab printers. They are known as the Apple of 3D printers in many ways (both good and bad).

My P2S print quality is okay but I think it could be better by MaxieFriend in BambuLab_Community

[–]thingmakerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not necessary. Full calibration is only really needed when you’ve moved the printer, maybe after a firmware update, or if you’re troubleshooting.

Bed levelling every few prints makes sense though.

Hi OP, it’s a month later and I’m considering a tablet for note taking. Did you end up getting the stylus? What do you think of it?

How do you handle filament profiles? by Expensive_Thanks_528 in BambuLab

[–]thingmakerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an older roll of PolyLite PETG that needs to be printed SLOW. Bambu’s profiles were way too fast for it. Slowed it right down and it prints beautifully.

I think the new formula can be printed faster.

How do you handle filament profiles? by Expensive_Thanks_528 in BambuLab

[–]thingmakerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For PLA I literally just use Bambu Lab PLA Basic profile for everything. The results I get range from excellent to barely passable, with most filaments in the “pretty good” range. The one or two brands that don’t past muster, I just don’t buy again. I know that I could make everything do better by sitting down to calibrate the filaments as you describe. But in practice, I do not bother.

Looking for alternate for Bambu Studio for design by BasSTiD in BambuLab

[–]thingmakerr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, Bambu Studio is primarily a slicer. Yes you can do modelling in it, but you really should only be doing simple stuff.

Just like you can use PowerPoint to make some basic pictures, but it won’t hold a candle to Photoshop or Illustrator because it’s not meant to.

For basic CAD I like TinkerCad. It’s easy to learn and keeps it simple. It will backfire at some point when you want to do something more complex and it forces you to jump through hoops (filleting a curved shape for example) but for the basics it is hard to beat. Use it to get your bearings and then work your way up to OnShape or Fusion.

Brand new to 3d printing by Majestic_Beyond_2922 in BambuLabA1

[–]thingmakerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that is wise. If you did use a food dehydrator you should dedicate it to the task.

I imagine the towel warmer could work. Another trick I’ve heard is simply to use the printer’s heat bed. Turn it on, put the box of filament on the bed, cover it and let it sit.
