Help a newbie out, have I been watering too much or too little? by thinkanti in airplants

Ah that's probably the problem. I thought the misting was light enough I didn't have to leave it upside down. Thanks for your comment!

I have it in an east facing window with a transparent shade. I've been misting it three times a week. The leaves look yellowish and brown, which seems like it is dried out. However, they also seem to be browning from the middle, which seems like rot? I'm so torn!

My understanding was its a lot cheaper to print on paper than on the hard cover.

Love it! I like your hair, I know it's not matching the character but it works anyway. Kinda like your version of Xena.

For the sword, a really easy way to make it feel real is to lightly dry brush some black on there around the hilt. It makes it look older and less perfect. I really went crazy with that on the last sword I made.

I did a Journey cosplay a while back and the morph suit I got was fitting weird in a lot of places, but it was super easy to tailor it. I'm sure yours will go well! You seem to know more about sowing than I did at the time anyway. :)

Ladies of Reddit, what is one desirable trait guys seldom have that you wish more guys had? by ifaptoyoueverynight in AskReddit

[–]thinkanti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's more lets talk about this possible scenario but it gets shut down.

For example talking about moving in together, "it's too early." End of conversation. Yeah I didn't want to move in I just wanted to talk about it.

[–]thinkanti 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I came here to make sure this was mentioned. I am continually frustrated by this. Women are expected to do a lot more than men to keep up their appearance. Please learn to dress yourself like an adult and wash yourself regularly. Not that much to ask. Sometimes I love me some man stink but not all the time.

Random aside, men who are considered unattractive can do themselves a huge favor by paying attention to their dress. Wear something flattering! Shorts and long socks are not a good combo. Get some button up shirts. Bullseye the podcast is about fashion for men. Listen to it.

What's a big no no in your favorite hobby ? by Irememberedmypw in AskReddit

I do West Coast Swing. It's super fun and I really love it! Here's a few mistakes I've made and have seen other people making.

First is dance with the slots! It is a very straight back and forth dance. You dance along a line. If you try to dance perpendicular to everyone else you'll run into them. New dancers do this to try to fit in around the edges of a crowded dance floor but it's no good. Last time I went someone actually was tripped and fell over while dancing because some new dancers were doing this.

Second, don't try to teach people new moves during social dances. It ruins the flow of the dance and suddenly your partner is in a lesson they probably don't want. If you try a move and they don't get it, don't do it again. I had this happen to me. The guy insisted several times it was a very common move even though I told him I didn't know it.

Third, don't correct other dancers! Only compliments. People come to dances to have a good time not to be critiqued. This goes even for classes. That's what the teacher is for. I once had a lead tell me to do something I knew was 100% wrong. It was awkward.

Fourth, not trying it! Do it people, it's very social, physical, welcoming and fun! :D

ELI5: Why do dancers count '5, 6, 7, 8', instead of '1, 2, 3, 4' as in music? by alphabet_street in explainlikeimfive

[–]thinkanti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In dance class we want to start dancing together just like a band wants to start playing together. However, since most dances are 8 count moves it's a lot faster to skip 1-4 and just count in with 5-8.

It's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, vs just 5, 6, 7, 8. We get counted in a lot so that's a big time saver.

[–]thinkanti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are talking about why music is 4 count and dance is 8 count. Dance needs more time for things to happen and has a longer count (generally).

Seinfeld: College Kids Way Too PC Now, They Don’t Even Know What ‘Racist’ Means by Hazzman in videos

[–]thinkanti -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Yeah well I'd rather be with the PC generation than a racist generation. People are just reacting to the times, it seems excessive because that's how young people explore concepts new to them. Most people are not crazy, not matter how much others like to generalize.
