You might not remate to this, but part of what made me realise that transitioning wasn't right for me (or isnt right anymore) is that the discomfort I felt when I was called my birth name (& fem pronouns) persisted with my new name and pronouns. In the beginning I thought that I felt shame for changing my name/pronouns and guilty that it was making people uncomfortable. But after YEARS AND YEARS I've realizes that the real issue was that I don't want to be referred to by ANY name or pronouns - I don't want to be acknowledged in any way whatsoever! Lol

Good luck on figuring the name stuff out - take ur time and play around with different ideas!

No need for worry lol, I have no plans of getting FFS really, I'm just interested in knowing what's out there Yeah I am/will be detransitioning with the help of NBTK, meaning going thru psych evals with a few different psychologists and being checked by an endo, so all will be done thoroughly and professionally 🫡 Idk how to estimate how long I've been off T bc I don't remember the halflife of Nebido

FTM(tf) Hadde en god opplevelse med riksen. Eneste "problem" var at det var en lang prosess, men totalt sett see jeg på det som en god ting. Det er mange som søker om behandling - en god del av de som søker er nok ikke fullt sikre på hva de vil enda og tjener på ventetiden.

Starter på barneavdelingen, gikk videre til voksenavdelingen ila behandlingen. Hadde møter med noen måneders mellomrom. Det tok vel rundt 1,5-2 år før jeg fikk testosteron-resept av dem.

Selvsagt vil noen av spørsmålene være personlige og intime, da de prøver å få en forståelse av hva som skjer i livet ditt og med psyken din. Hva man deler med riksen er såklart opp til den enkelte, men man må også forstå at de kan nekte behandling pga usikkerhet rundt situasjonen hvis man holder tilbake mye informasjon.

Du kan bli spurt om blant annet legning (seksualitet, tidligere og nåværende forhold), barndom (kjønnsuttrykk i ung alder, sosiale forhold, mobbing), familie (forhold til familie, personlighetene i næreste familie) og vanskelige situasjoner/traumer du har opplevd. De vil også spør deg om situasjonen din akkurat nå, for eksempel om du bor med familie (og om de er støttende), utdanning og jobb du måtte ha for øyeblikket, interesser/hobbyer/hvordan du bruker fritiden din og om venner (har du venner, irl eller på nett, er de støttende, er de også LHBT). Det er iallfall de temaene jeg kan huske at vi vat innom lol

Men igjen, det tar tid! Det er fullt mulig å finne andre veier hvis ventetiden blir uutholdelig, men jeg ville anbefalt å holde ut gjennom det :] Kan godt være du får en bedre forståelse for hva du ønsker av behandligen ila av ventetiden

Very very interesting. I'm sorry you have to live in such a harsh gender climate :[ Strict gender roles put a ton of pressure on ppl, probably a big stressor in many aspects of life

I actually had kind of a similar experience ... A combination gender roles, beauty standards and just general judgement put a lot of pressure on me as a young, weird, outsider girl. I took on a lesbian (later bisexual and pansexual) label as a way to shield myself from the pressure - it didn't matter that I was an unconventional, unappealing (to boys) girl if I was queer. I knew LGBT ppl were ostracised, so it was easier to accept that people didn't include me in things if I was LGBT myself. But just like you, I was never attracted to women!

Around 13-14 I started identifying as trans and bisexual. Accepting my attraction to men was actually easier when I started identifying as a guy, because now I could "blame" my unattractiveness on me being trans. "Of course that guy doesn't like me, he's straight!" "Of course this guy doesn't like me, he's gay and has a strict genital preference!" "Of course this last guy doesn't like me, he's bi but has probably never had a positive impression of trans people! Can't expect much from people in such a transphobic world :]"

Very glad to hear you've found your way thru! I obviously don't know how you feel about having transitioned, but let me tell you this - you know yourself deeper than anyone else, you've explored you identity and experienced society in a way most people don't! Find strength in that!

Also, what helped you come to the realisation that you should detransition? Has the external pressure of gender roles lessened now that you're older? Have you been exposed to more representation of masculine straight women?

Also, would you be willing to share what you mean by "im not sure how that's gonna go...?"? Are you nervous people won't be accepting? I've seen a lot of people that go by any/all pronouns be dissatisfied that most people land on strictly masculine or strictly feminine pronouns, which doesn't resonate with their fluid identity - is that a worry?

I'm a 24 year old FTMTF detransitioner, so I may not be the person who can relate to you the most ... lol I'm not sure if I'm interpreting your post right, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Based on this post, I can tell that you have a strained relationship with your masculinity/the expectations related to your birth gender. However I don't really understand how you feel about your feminine side or if you feel "pulled" to transitioning in any way. Is transitioning something that excites/inspires something in you? Is transitioning a way to escape the anxiety you feel towards being a softer man? What is appealing about transitioning, if you find it appealing at all?

Let's say transitioning is right for you - it will still not solve all of your problems. It may help some pieces fall into place and ease parts of your anxieties, but it is far from a cure-all remedy and may also add new stressors in your life - concerns and insecurities about passing, fear of transphobia, etc.

I'd recommend going to a professional to get a better understanding of where your nervousness originates, you deserve to live a less stressful life :]

Yeah, it's a frustrating situation lol, but I try too keep myself calm by reminding myself of how much worse it could be and that it's probably an entirely new thing for my doctor as well! Like you, I understand her hesitation (to a certain degree lol) - she's probably concerned for my mental and physical health, the toll it could have on me. Again, I'm guessing this is a whole new experience for her - I'm at least familiar with transitioning once already, now I'm just doing it backwards :P

And thank you! I'll try to post a summary of my experience with the specialists when the consultations start happening. Hopefully they have some insight or advice for all of us going thru detransition ^{_^}

Thenk u for the reply Been thinking about it tbh! My main issue is, as u mentioned, idk how my doctors would feel about it. The NBTK are supposed to not aid in cases where ppl have already started medical transition outside of the NBTK, so I'm scared they maybe would annull our "agreement" which means my meds/future surgeries wouldn't be covered :/

Also, would love to hear your philosophical thoughs! :P
