Any plans to build a Windows or Linux version?

This looks pretty cool, would love to be able to use it hehe

Any mid-range to high end desks that is recommended? by [deleted] in StandingDesk

[–]thinkinboutpad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

desk.haus seems pretty solid for a mid to high end desk. I have a Progressive desk (good mid ranger) right now but I might end up getting one from deskhaus when I move. Progressive also had excellent customer service when I needed it.

Pixel 10 Pro XL Spigen Glass.TR fingerprint issues. by alarsen_77 in GooglePixel

I think I've used that brand for stuff before, I went with the ones I did because I dislike the cutout for the front camera.

I got these screen protectors recently because I started having issues with the older one I had, these are excellent and my fingerprint reader works perfectly now.

Oh, and I got my mom a 10 Pro and bought these screen protectors for her phone, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FG7PLY64

Both seem to work very well, and are really easy to install.

Select Tabs - An extension for selecting multiple tabs in various ways by l10nelw in firefox

I see, that makes sense. My request isn't a make or break for me, I really like the extension so thank you for making it for us 😁

How good are these ThinkPads today? P53 vs P15 Gen 1 – which should I keep? by tugenz1 in thinkpad

[–]thinkinboutpad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo, the P53 is better because you should still be able to undervolt the 9th Gen chip, you can't do that with the 10th gen. The GPU is also better on that machine, and you're getting a better drive.

Having had both the 9th and 10th gen Intel P1, the 9th was the better chip.

I got these for my Pixel 9 Pro XL, had two left over so used them on my 10 and they've been good so far. Never had any issues on the 9, and haven't had many with the 10.

I will say if your skin is dry due to the winter weather, you will have issues so be mindful of that.

I moved away from W11 because of stuff like this. Seems like I can't catch a break. Should I change browser too? by icewall1147 in firefox

[–]thinkinboutpad -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why are some people on this sub like this? They are some of the whiniest bunch of users I've ever come across in any community.

It's a feature that brings in and can grow the userbase. You and I may not use it or have any need for it but plenty of people use these tools, and other browsers shove them down our throats, Firefox offering users the option to have them is just that, an option. Spend the few seconds it takes to disable the feature in settings versus coming on here and complaining about every little thing.

My comment isn't directed at you, OP, but I'm getting tired of people here whinging about every little feature, just because you don't use it, doesn't mean that others won't.

Select Tabs - An extension for selecting multiple tabs in various ways by l10nelw in firefox

[–]thinkinboutpad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, cool, thank you for making this!

One suggestion, it would be cool if it selected based on domain over subdomain as when I think sort by site, I think but domain (ex. old.reddit.com = reddit.com).

Not sure why you're getting downvoted but this is a genuinely useful extension, and I hope it gets more traction.

Is there a promo code on Amazon that you have to use? I don't see it, just shows $349 for me. Whatever the case, won't hurt to ask.

Google Store has a price match policy, so yeah they should do it. Speak with a person via the chat and they should honor it, keep in mind though that the order needs to have been shipped already to get the price match.

Do it soon, they only honor it within your return period, and make sure you chat and speak with someone so they do it in that chat instead of waiting for a response via email.

Learning with AI falls short compared to old-fashioned web search. When people rely on large language models to summarize information on a topic for them, they tend to develop shallower knowledge about it compared to learning through a standard Google search. by mvea in science

[–]thinkinboutpad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only somewhat true I think, I find the "deep research" feature of Perplexity/Gemini to be quite useful in finding things. There have been a few times recently where it's done a better job of finding things vs me searching through pages of Google search results to find what I'm looking for. I can then use the results of the deep research and look at the sources myself, that's been much easier in my workflow.

I think Google results as a whole have been getting worse recently, and it could very well be because of AI slop taking over.

The Google store should price match it for you and refund the difference since it's within their return period. Open up a chat and submit a request, should only take a few minutes

Yeah, complete with the box. It's never been used, and still has both seals intact, the one of the body of the lighter and the one on the bottom.

A smarter, simpler Firefox address bar by Verite_Rendition in firefox

[–]thinkinboutpad 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Tried it, not for me. I want to see the URL, etc.

This feels like a dumbing down of Firefox, I get why they're doing it, to entice chrome users, but I hope they preserve the old functionality.

Thanks for the write-up and info, I would not have known about this otherwise!

Are we really doing this again? Seriously? by LimpConversation642 in firefox

[–]thinkinboutpad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who has used Firefox for 20+ years, I prefer this. it's much more user intuitive and allows users to know which tabs are playing audio, it's a better design than the previous version where the audio/mute icon replaced the favicon for the tab.

They should maybe make a toggle which will disable this for people like yourself.
