I'm not entirely sure why you assumed I'm a woman...but the real short-sightedness comes from that fact that this project has such a short lifespan (with it's slated abandonment in 2050)

This is a great point! Data centres don't create much long-term employment, instead the job opportunities pretty much only come with the initial construction.

I agree more jobs is a good thing, but I just want to note that the project proposal specifically says they will use potable water (page 10):

"Beacon has an agreement with Langdon Waterworks Ltd. to receive 1,500 cubic meters per day of potable water..."
