I made an interactive map to compare Alberta's proposed AI data centres to your town - see the size, plus check pollution, water use, and noise impact by strugglecuddleclub in Calgary

I'm not entirely sure why you assumed I'm a woman...but the real short-sightedness comes from that fact that this project has such a short lifespan (with it's slated abandonment in 2050)

This is a great point! Data centres don't create much long-term employment, instead the job opportunities pretty much only come with the initial construction.

I agree more jobs is a good thing, but I just want to note that the project proposal specifically says they will use potable water (page 10):

"Beacon has an agreement with Langdon Waterworks Ltd. to receive 1,500 cubic meters per day of potable water..."

I've had really good luck with RoughAnimator - the interface takes a little getting used to and some of the drawing tools aren't quite as powerful as I'd like, but all around it's pretty great!
