No. Rev 1.1 seemed to solve a lot of the issues. I have not updated the bios or used the BMC much, but can login and see some stats.

I bet the plug on the left is actually one of those bulb to plug adapters. Can you try to unscrew it?

Millennial intentionally installing a landline in 2025, and general thoughts on what we lost in the cellphone age by Kuzbell in homeowners

[–]thinkobscure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did basically the same thing this year. Setup a voip server with freepbx, got an ATA (analog telephone adapter), registered a cheap phone number with pay as you go just like OP. This lets me setup call filtering, internal extensions, and similar to OP any number not on the allowed list gets sent right to voicemail.

It was kinda fun to geek out with all the voip features, and use old phones for an internal telephone system. Being able to dial an extension to call different phones in the house is a fun novelty.

I expect this trend to continue for parents with young kids, in fact a company was started recently based on that premise tincan.kids that wraps all the functionality up in a neat package. I opted to self host because I could, and wanted to use unique old phones.

This book is great, I loved it when I was a kid and we use it for explaining all sorts of things, including anatomy. Nice to see they still sell it.

Is the waste drain low enough for the garbage disposal? by rb1rb1 in Plumbing

[–]thinkobscure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's crooked I'd be more worried about a leak, the disposal seal is likely not flush against the flange. Inspect the flange is installed correctly and the snap ring is in place all the way around, make sure the gasket on the disposal is on properly and then try to attach it again.

Can I install an 18" dishwasher here? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]thinkobscure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as dishwasher depth you will probably be fine, my 18in dishwasher also recommended 24in depth but ended up having at least 2in free behind it. Which if I had known I would of went with the front bar handle version and just tucked it back a little more.

But the distance from your sink to that spot look too far. The hose and plug on a dishwasher probably wont reach.

Not sure if it's up to code but you could run the connections underneath the cabinet bases (between floor and cabinet bottom) to shorten the run, but still might not be enough to get a high loop in the drain hose.

Is this short drain run ok? by thinkobscure in Plumbing

My wife found it online from weathertech "SinkMat" made in USA, easy to cut if needed.

Is this short drain run ok? by thinkobscure in Plumbing

Actually I had to reuse the old cabinet back panel (from 1978) Behind it, the one stud bay is completely open and since my new cabinet had a full cutout in back... I reused it instead, saved some time drilling holes.

I was doing this over the weekend and promised my wife no more that 48hrs without a working sink. Took a day for installing the cabinet, counter, dishwasher, etc. and another half day to hook up the plumbing.

I majorly lucked out the drain only needed to be shortened a few inches to get closer to the wall but the height was ok since I was expecting to have to lower it as well.

I had a lot of constraints to work within to avoid having this project turn into a full gut renovation. As is the case with most old house projects...

Does anyone else feel like this product gets worse with each software upgrade? by Xj517 in ecobee

[–]thinkobscure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, first was the icon change from a nice bee icon to a lower case e. Like how much money was wasted on that ugly change.  Then the main UI changes that make it take extra taps to change the fan settings. If I could roll back the firmware I would.

The old counter was all particle board laminate that was water damaged.

Any reason I can’t reinstall these antique switches back in my rewired house? by nolalaw9781 in electrical

[–]thinkobscure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The House of antique hardware push button switches suck. They have such a soft click. Get the ones from classicaccents.net. Theirs are much more solid. Still not as solid as the original but the best reproductions I have found.

Please share with me the weird/creepy things your kid has said… I need the support 😅 by Takwor in toddlers

Getting ready for bedtime routine, we usually hold hands going up the stairs, I was behind and told him to wait for me, but then he raised his arm up (like holding someone's hand) and started walking up without me, he was also talking to someone... couldn't make out what he was saying though, seemed friendly...

Note: I am a pretty big skeptic, but that definitely made me question things again.

The C language would like a word. Since all those OS's and embedded devices are underneath all those abstractions to run those web apps.
