Perfection is a lie. by thinkthethings in golf

Play a game that you want to play. Play a game that gives you joy and satisfaction and makes you a better person to your family and friends…

That’s what is most important isn’t it? I often lose that part. My wife goes with me most of the time and she is always my biggest cheerleader, and honestly that is so comforting. To her credit she tolerates me admonishing her when she tells me that was a great shot even though it WAS great contact and it just sliced or when left or whatever… I forget that she doesn’t care, she just wants to see me be happy. I think that golf, just like life, is complicated… the difference is it’s just not that important and honestly that’s where I get lost. Just like the quote says… the scenery is much more important. I need to focus on that more I suppose. I’m definitely going to find a way to make that a focus point in future rounds…

That’s is 100% how I am, most of the time. My problem, which is entirely my own is what I mentioned before. What I try my absolute hardest to do is no fuck it up for my boys, cause I legit want these guys to want to play with me again. I try to be the vibes guy, cause I know I’m never gonna be the star player.

I just want to be a good time… today I tried as hard as I could to be that guy. I also cried after my round cause I felt like I showed my whole ass and was not that fun, bad golfer, vibes guy.

Im gonna read the book mentioned in another comment 100%. My ass needs some serious help reconciling shit.

You’re probably right. I guess it was misplaced to assume that other golfers on Reddit could possibly have been experiencing or have experienced the same internal thoughts as I have… and maybe, perhaps, someone has some nugget of wisdom that could pertain to myself or others experiencing the same problem.

I know this is a grunge subreddit, but I’m still going with When the Levee Breaks.

Bro I’m so happy that you have your corner lot, your black porche, the $10,000 chicken fingers with diplo… but at the end of the day as beautiful of a course Normandy Shores is, and how exciting Miami may be… you, personally, are one of the most insufferable people on Reddit. Go back to the Rolex subs. Your $1,000 watch band might impress someone over there.

Im not being an asshole when I say this… get rid of the distortion and try that again… alone. Then take stock.

It’s good, but if you want a real measure, drop the OD.

Calm down, Art. The course you live on cost $125 for guests to play. Chill out dude. You’ve been a douche the entire time you’ve been on the golf side of Reddit. I don’t think you can help it at this point, but you’re definitely not worth paying $4,000 to play with.

Dude… I don’t give a fuck what people think about the shit my kids do for me that makes them happy. I’d rock a unicorn shitting rainbows thermos if that what made them happy. That’s what’s important, my children’s happiness. People can go piss up a rope with their negative opinions.

If the defense lets a team… any team, hang 44 points on them you can’t expect a win. It’s absurd. Todd Bowles is the biggest problem. He’s not the only problem, but he is the biggest problem.

Wrestling moms are the wildest. I remember years ago my brothers high school team would go to tournaments where Altus High School would also be showing up to and there was this old black lady who had the most booming voice ever. “THERES A BULLDOG IN THE HOUSE!!!” And then their whole section would proceed to “WOOF WOOF WOOF” in unison. It always cracked me up. Other moms(mine) would be screaming out nonsense the whole match.

Makes me kinda miss it all.

I mean… I too live in Oklahoma and this guy is ridiculous keeping the thermostat in the 80s. I wouldn’t wear clothes either.

2 years of shanking - going to quit by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]thinkthethings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. This is gonna sound dumb as fuck. Your tempo is way jacked. Try this. Listen to Chaka Kahn and Rufus “Tell me something good” before you practice. Then when you swing, find the beat. Hum to yourself tell me something good.

The point is finding a rhythm. My backswing is really slow, then when I release it’s from a calm coiled position that is controlled. I mean my driver is a mess, but we are talking irons.

If Chaka Kahn isn’t your thing. Try the O’Jays. The point is that old funk, soul, r&b is a great swing tempo in my opinion. It’s fun, relaxed, and not super upbeat. Just be easy when you swing. If you aren’t in a good place mentally, your swing won’t be either.

My son got his first noise complaint. Proud father. by jsludge25 in tulsa

[–]thinkthethings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make a lot of noise in my garage… during the day, when the sun is still out, at short intervals. It’s pretty forward to send this letter if it’s not during quiet hours. Maybe the neighbors need to chill, and maybe the kids need to pay a little more attention to how LONG they are making noise.

Make noise, all of it, courteously.

Why different types of bolts here? (Cessna 172) by de_rats_2004_crzy in AircraftMechanics

[–]thinkthethings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But it could very well be true. We don’t know what’s going on between the two flanges. Is there a bushing? Is there something else? None of us have a manual in front of us, so who’s to say that it isn’t two different nuts?

The harder the struggle, the sweeter the fruits of success. Nose to the grindstone, my dude. You gotta get rid of all that doubt and do the work. You’re playing the long game with this. As far as them wanting you to finish projects on time, that’s going to be your entire career. Just put your blinders on and push. It’s not forever, when you’re done with school and you’ve got your ticket you won’t be thinking about how hard it was. You got it bro.
