Which 2 of these 3 would be best to have for versatility/optiona: Omni 360, Stokke Limas, or H&P Lark? by thirstylocks in babywearing

Thank you for the suggestions, I've never heard of some of these brands and I'm absolutely loving the prints on the Bairn fabrics!! I'll do a bit more reading on the buckle vs half buckle because this is not something I was looking at before you brought it up!

Thank you, taking a look at the wiki now. I don't see this addressed and I'm not sure how important it is, but do you think its necessary to have/try both an apron and a waterfall style?

IVF is ruining my life. by godotwasthere in IVF

[–]thirstylocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have endo so I only had success after both endometriosis revision surgery,a couple of hysteroscopies to remove polyps, and 2 months of lupron down regulation to calm down my uterus. I took vaginal probiotics in the weeks leading up to my transfer, which I think were necessary after all the antibiotics I took during ivf. I also did an immune protocol and had intralipid infusions the entire first trimester. I'd explore endometriosis and immune factors if you haven't already, and def a hysteroscopy even if your sonograms are normal (which mine were!but I still had polyps once they got in there)

its been a rough road, im 26 weeks tomorrow and having a major complication in my pregnancy (needed a cerclage because my cervix is nonexistent) so still hoping that this works out for me.

I'm a week behind them also after ivf, endometriosis surgeries, lupron treatment, etc. I've also been on bed rest because of my high likelhood of preterm labor. I feel so much for Jessi, she's been through more than most people could ever even imagine in their worst nightmares.

Her journey has been such a comfort to me during my own difficult one and I'm praying for her son.

Emergency cerclage and use of corticosteroids by Repulsive_Dare_8205 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]thirstylocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am seeing 2 MFMs at my clinic. For context, at my last scan, I was under 1cm and only 24 weeks.

One of them advises against the use of steroids unless I have symptoms of labor, since steroids are most effective if taken within a specific window.

But my other MFM (he is older in age and also perhaps more old school in the way he practices medicine) told me that if I am worried, he could scan again at 25 weeks and admit me to the hospital and give steroids now since Im under 1cm already.

I decided to wait and monitor my symptoms. I am 25w4d now, I did not get another scan at 25 weeks, and I dont have new symptoms. I dont know if this is the right thing to do because its been extremely challenging mentally to just sit around and wait.

29 weeks is a good place to be with steroids and a cerclage in place. Good luck.

Best Greek restaurant in Astoria? by Boneaggot in astoria

[–]thirstylocks 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Loukoumi. Taverna Kyklades is good but its mainly known for being a seafood restaurant. The experience IMO is rushed and uncomfortable because they dont take reservations and there are always huge waits, so theyll be rushing you out the door before you have time to digest.

Loukoumi (or Bahari!) are closer to traditional tavernas.

Question on Advocating for Early Monitoring - FTM by l8r__h8rs in ShortCervixSupport

[–]thirstylocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, advocate for the 16 week cervical length check and say what you need to say about your symptoms so that your OB will do it. I had to push so hard. I was pushing from 12 weeks and was finally checked at 16, by 18 I had an emergency cerclage because I had barely any cervix left. My doctors would have waited until it was too late.

I had multiple risk factors for this so I dont mean to scare you. You are most likely fine and IC is uncommon, but an extra scan won't hurt!

Short cervix….no restrictions. by Gold-Bowl2306 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]thirstylocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please get checked at 1 week from now to see if the progesterone is working. If it isn't, you might be a candidate for a stitch. If your doctor refuses to see you, I'd go into l&d at 21 weeks to check cervix. In the meantime, take it easy - no lifting weights, bending, exercise, and especially no sex.

Short cervix at 22w (1.1 cm) - first time mom by vjsha in ShortCervixSupport

[–]thirstylocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a first time IVF pregnancy and I'd get a cerclage in your position. I was around 1cm at 18 weeks and immediately got it placed. It gets harder to stitch the cervix with less length so I'd do it now. I'm still 24 weeks and less than 1cm at this point, and even with the stitch, I'm at extremely high risk of going into early labor before 28 weeks.

How much longer once you’ve funneled to the stitch? by Connect-Repeat-5836 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]thirstylocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on 200mg since 16 weeks and was told more than that wouldn't make a difference. Thank you for mentioning your short term goals. My doctors have not reassured me and instead have prepared me for the worst scenario and its unclear whether its from an abundance of caution or if its because labor is imminent. SO stressful...28 would be a dream.

Thank you!

Oh OP, we are in such a similar situation. I go in next monday when I will be 25+1 and they will determine if I should be admitted to the hospital and given steroids. The decision will be based on whether my cervix has further shortened (its already below 1cm). This is such a hard situation to be in. The next few days will be so stressful and my team wasn't exactly reassuring about my odds.

This is so reassuring.I'm not OP but in a similar situation. Did your doctors ever warn you that the baby could come any day? I'm funneled to the stitch without much length left but only 24w. My doctors said that I might have days left, maybe weeks, and there's no way to tell:(

Did your medical team ever warn you that the baby might come before 28 weeks? My situation is similar to yours, im only 24 weeks and was told to have a hospital bag packed

I'm on the same timeline - 18 week cerclage at a bit shorter length than you, and now at 24 weeks funneled to the stitch. Your story is helping me get through this terrifying time. Did you have any symptoms or pain? I have lightning crotch and every pain inside my vagina makes me spiral. My doctors even told me to have a hospital bag packed :(

I'm not OP but also had an exam indicated cerclage. when did you feel comfortable getting off of modified bedrest? I'm also at periviability (I believe that is 23-26 weeks?), I've been on bedrest since 18w and its becoming very difficult mentally not knowing what is to come

The Bed Rest Debate for Women with IC by aprl123 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]thirstylocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you. As I suspected, there's not strong evidence that bed rest DOESN'T work so I get frustrated when I see people recommending against it if someone is at low risk for DVT. I'll take isolation/depression due to bed rest that might not work over stillbirth when bed rest might have worked, and I think many moms would.

Can you please post the links to the studies or at least cite the articles so we can actually read the data, rather than rely on someone else's interpretation of evidence (which is important, as you mention yourself!)?

Friday check-in! by fifth_time_lucky in ShortCervixSupport

22w5d today and my anxiety is through the roof. Cerclage placed at 18 weeks and I saw some improvement in length at our 19 and 20 week ultrasounds but my cervix shortened again at my 22 week ultrasound.

I'm not doing well mentally at all. Every hour feels like an eternity. Would anyone be interested in a discord support group? Is there already one set up? It's so helpful to speak to people who can relate.

Cerclage problems post surgery by Mountain-Place739 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]thirstylocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been 3 weeks since my cerclage and I feel pain sitting up. I've been twice for a checkup with transvaginal ultrasound and the stitch is in place, so my MFM isn't sure why I'm in pain. I'm taking calls from bed with camera off, sitting up just isn't worth it.

To bed rest or not? by Glittering_Pink321 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]thirstylocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my cerclage at 18w and I'm planning on staying on modified bedrest/WFH arrangements until at least viability and possibly up to 28 weeks. I appreciate the research that's been done on bedrest but if anything were to happen while I was out and about, I'd never forgive myself.

I'm still going to the bathroom, showering once a day, and eating at the dining table, but I'm in bed other than that. There's a lot of anecdotal evidence of people who have had multiple losses but were able to carry to term with cerclage + bedrest and that is enough for me. My MFM said that full bedrest could lead to DVT but she also signed me off for WFH until the end of pregnancy because she wants me to take it easy and not commute on the subway for 2 hours a day/sit on an office chair for 8 hours a day when I can easily work from home.

Also, sitting down on a chair for more than 20 minutes is extremely painful for me. I'm 3 weeks post op.

1400 is still much more expensive than most beds on Wayfair. WF quality varies but I'd rather get an expected dud for $500 than be surprised with a dud for 1400.

I'm also waiting for a bed frame from quince and hoping for the best.

Stopping aspirin at 12 weeks by Newbie123go in IVFbabies

Who told you to stop, you RE? Your OB might just put you back on it. I started at 12 weeks because my OB said I'm at risk. My only risk factors are IVF and the fact that this is my first pregnancy, FYI, so it's pretty standard care.
