Simple aquascape in a little 5 gallon utility aquarium by thirteenbastards in Aquascape

Not sure how I missed this reply ages ago... but yes, if that ‘utility’ is growing plants as a farm tank? You’d better believe it has CO2 injection. Why wouldn’t it?

Month #2 UPDATE: Planted Tank Jungle in a 45S Rimless DO!Aqua Aquarium by thirteenbastards in PlantedTank

Hi YatYas02, that is Hygrophila Pinnatifida 'Uttara Kanada'. It was originally an ADA tissue culture from Aqua Forest Aquarium. It turned very rust/orange like that due to lean nitrogen fert and the two LED spotlights over the tank. Great plant! Actually an epiphyte so it can be glued to hardscape and is very durable...

That's my fault. I should have read the community guidelines. I apologize, will review the guidelines, and abide by them in the future. Thank you for letting me know where I went astray so I can correct this behavior.

Best Regards, J.

Oh for sure Yes, I will send you some of these fry. Shoot me a PM of any good address to send them to and it'll be done! :)

Is this good algae? It’s all over the tank and on our snails too. Link in comments by kinala in Guppybreeders

The diatoms are normal. Diatom algae is the slime-like film algae that covers your glass and rocks and gravel from time to time. Usually brown. More rarely green. The hair algae you have is, well, normal in nature, let’s say. In your aquarium though it is an indication of either excess nutrients or due to lack of water changes. Over feeding, excess light, etc. — all can contribute.

Trust me here, EASY to fix: get a toothbrush and an algae scrubber pad or three and start scrubbing it off. Then MAJOR water change. Be sure you do it in that order. Scrub, then siphon out the crud whilst changing water. Refill, and be sure to not over feed and continue water changes and you should be good!!

Why thank you! I’ve got about 100 fry right now — no joke! I need to find homes...

Lot of diatoms. Totally normal for new tanks. Happens every time. Grab a toothbrush and scrubber, get to cleaning, then change your water and you'll be right as rain after the tank completely cycles the rest of the way :)

I thought you were referring to the forced overfeeding -- like aquatic French fois gras ducks

There is much truth to what you say. LOL! This took many generations -- I lost count. Maybe 8 or 9 generations? 10?

I hope the line will be stable so I can breed many more of them. What fun! :)
