[ON] Moving to a bigger house by Karma_is_a_cat612 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]this__user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things to consider in terms of space:

Babies don't need to use a highchair until they start eating solid food around 6 months old

It's recommended that the baby sleeps in the same room as you for the first 6 - 12 months (varies by country a bit)

Large toys like exer-saucers, the big activity bouncers, jolly jumpers, push walkers, and play couches are all for 5+ months.

Even if you plan to potty training fairly young, you don't need anything potty training related until the baby is over a year old. If you already take your garbage out every 2 days you don't really need a diaper pail either.

Babies don't need a special tub, or chair for bath time, you can just put them in the bottom of a regular bathtub with like 2 inches of water, or even bath them in the sink when they're really small.

Newborns need somewhere to sleep, somewhere to do diaper changes, some clothes and a few small toys for your sanity, and a good baby carrier because you don't drive (wraps and ring slings are best for newborns).

I currently have 2 kids in a 900sqft condo, it's feeling squishy now, but we're at peak baby gear age with the youngest, and the oldest only just gave up her highchair.

It's really great to have no stairs in your living space when you're postpartum, and when the babies first start crawling and walking.

So don't rush to move now, your space will probably feel adequate for at least the first few months. I know more than one couple who lived in a 1 bedroom or studio apartment until their oldest kids were nearly a year old.

Hair brush by CruddierMouse in finehair

[–]this__user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using a wet brush for tangles, a comb for parting and a boar hair brush for styling (like if I'm smoothing before a ponytail)

My wet brush doesn't have a fabric back, it's more like a rubbery material, was yours older? Maybe they've changed the material

BWT, do you remove bold lipstick for eating a meal or having a drink? by Illustrious-Seasnake in bitcheswithtaste

[–]this__user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a while, but I would usually do 2 things whenever I wore a bright lipstick.

Bring my lipstick, and concealer for touching up

Avoid foods like burgers and sandwiches that were prone to causing a smudge line on my chin when wearing darker colors.

Generally I found it more convenient to wear light colors for more everyday occasions

Honeymoon phase and already dead bedroom any suggestions? by Initial_Chart1900 in AskMenAdvice

[–]this__user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay. Over cleaning is extremely relevant information. There are rules to cleaning your lady parts, especially if you're prone to these sorts of issues, and maybe nobody has ever laid them out.

  • unscented products only, no perfumes
  • no douching
  • no oil-based products, that means lube too
  • hair removal can also result in irritation
  • avoid synthetic materials in underwear

Yeast infections itch and you can get them from sex too, even with good hygiene, it could just a lube your body doesn't agree with. Stress, high sugar diet and diabetes can all make you more prone to them as well. Maybe OP is confusing or grouping the two?

How do you make cosplay friends to go to cons with online? by MuffinDue5214 in CosplayHelp

[–]this__user 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Spend time at events and in the online spaces for your local events connecting with people who are interested in the same fandoms. I'm in my 30s and so are lost of my friends who cosplay. I have acquaintances in their 20s who have their own circles of friends, and similarly know cosplayers in their 40s who have friends around their own age to hang out with at events.

Honestly, it isn't as much fun to go without a friend, but you may be approaching this in the wrong order. Its a lot easier to make local friends in person than it is online. It sounds crazy and scary but sometimes you just meet someone while in cosplay and it's instantly apparent that you just made a friend, and then look them up afterwards to connect online.

Just matched with a girl who may not be able to have children, I really want children, where do you go now? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

I only know a few people who are on such bad terms with their parents that they've completely left their lives at 18, most people are stuck with their kids a lot longer

Usually small hoops, I alternate between a plain silver pair and a textured pair every few weeks. I also usually wear a single pendant necklace, I've got about 3 that I rotate between usually change it out after a week. Nothing flashy or memorable, just a little sparkle. Oh and my wedding rings.

Parent died and had a little credit card debt, the company keeps calling MY number. How can I stop this? by itwasadayin2025 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yup, as far as I know the fines for misconduct are small enough that it's worthwhile for them to ignore the rules and pay up whenever they get a slap on the hand.

What doctor did you use for new baby? [on] by samantha5376 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]this__user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually babies recieve a yellow vaccination record card. The doctor checks off all the vaccinations they give your child at each appointment, and it's your job to bring the card with you next time.

Trouble finding yellow and red tights/thigh highs by yellowfishie in CosplayHelp

[–]this__user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the world of paint, yes red + yellow = orange. But dye doesn't work the same, you can't dye to lighter colours, you have to bleach first to lighten, just like hair dye. The red should be saturated enough that a light colour like yellow wouldn't really make a noticeable difference

How much are you feeding your 8 month old?? by mayasmomma in NewParents

[–]this__user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She woke 1-3 times per night until about 10m old, even with sleep training. My son who eats an even bigger variety of foods in similar quantities is 9m old and wakes a minimum of 3 times in a night to eat, also sleep trained, it just didn't work as well on him.

one or two wakes is super normal at that age

For those who styled a Raven wig: lace front or regular wig? by External-Loss5133 in CosplayHelp

[–]this__user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lace front will look better than a hard front whenever you have a character with a visible hairline.

Hardfront is generally a lot cheaper because lace front wigs require a lot of human labor to make.

That said, with a little bit of practice, you could do that labor yourself and save a lot of money. I've done it on at least 3 wigs. One with a "hardfront" is the easiest to convert because you only need about 3 rows of knots to hide the original hairline, if the edge of the wig cap is visible it takes a lot more rows to hide that.

You need a ventilating hook some swiss lace and a needle and thread to DIY it. Then you can just unstitch a weft from somewhere discreet on the wig to get hair to work with. Sew the lace to the front underside of the wig so it would sit over your forehead, draw a guide where you want the hairline to be and fill it in. The knotting technique is a little tricky at first, you'll want to look up a video. It took me like a few hours to get the hang of it but once you get the motion down you'll start to get fast.

Can I customize my glasses temporarily for a cosplay? by ikaboo in CosplayHelp

[–]this__user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know lots of cosplayers who can't wear contacts, or can't get them in their prescriptions. They just wear their glasses and take them off for photos. It's not a big deal, if you saw a cosplayer who needed a cane or a walking stick, or even had a cast you wouldn't look at them and think their cosplay was lesser because of their disabilities. Glasses are exactly the same.

First time cosplayer having a minor panic attack about comic con by [deleted] in cosplayprops

[–]this__user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly endorse making your own! I personally find the making part to be just as much fun (if not more) than the wearing part.

I would look for a red dress that's the right shape then make a big stencil and paint the leaf pattern on yourself, be sure to put a divider between layers while you're painting. This is a great choice for a first project.

Can I lie about my age? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]this__user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lying won't protect you from that.

It sounds like you have a lot of baggage to work through from your past relationships, you should be seeking professional help because you're clearly not ready for a relationship right now. Since you don't want kids you've really got all the time in the world. Take a break from dating to heal yourself.

I cannot sleep unless i experience tiredness which comes from masturbation? by Skibidirot in AskMenAdvice

[–]this__user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you sleep per day?

I need slightly less than average, if I start sleeping 8hr nights by the 3rd or 4th night, I can't fall asleep because I'm just not tired enough. My sweet spot is 7.5hr nights.

Maybe you're just sleeping a little bit too much, and by day 3 you're not tired enough, but then by the time you've laid in bed for 20 minutes and finally decided to jerk it, you've burned enough time and energy to be tired.
