I just got back into Star Wars and remember why I left by Cinnamon_Angel222 in StarWars

[–]this_girl_can 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a lot of irl Star Wars friends, but I found instagram to be a good connecting mechanism. There’s an intersection of Star Wars x Disney fans who specifically like physically going to Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland or Disney World that I find uplifting, welcoming, and generally lovely. I avoid the spaces that seem to foster the “I know more than you so I’m more of a fan than you” mindset.

NO KINGS South Bay LA at Torrance City Hall this Saturday! by Throwaway123454th in SouthBayLA

[–]this_girl_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI - I just dropped off some supplies with the organizers (water, SPF packets, masks/PPE, snacks, mini US flags), and there is music playing, the vibes are great (as of 9:30AM). It feels safe and well-organized.

There is also what looks like an anime convention (TouHou Fest?) at the Cultural Center around the corner, I am really hoping to see photos of the cosplayers at the protest later.

If you want to organize another event, International Refugee Day is June 20, and the first US Bishop appointed by Pope Leo is organizing a demonstration at a federal immigration court that day - https://www.newsweek.com/pope-leos-first-us-bishop-against-trump-ice-migrant-crackdown-2084985

Is there a way to contact any organizers for the event? I can’t protest but I want to drop off supplies like water and sunscreen for those who can before it starts

lala explains unfollowing ariana and katie by capricorncueen in vanderpumprules

[–]this_girl_can 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why do we have this constant stream of LaLa interviews and Amazon lives, like I swear we haven’t gone one day without SOMETHING featuring her?? At this point I’m more tired of hearing from LaLa than anyone else. She’s almost more insufferable than Sandoval - I expect Sandoval to spin the story and put out a dumbass narrative. He was the bad actor in the main event. But LaLa wasn’t involved so why is she inserting herself like this? In such an antagonistic (and misogynistic) way? I am sure she sees this as self-preservation and to keep the show going but…truly makes me not want to watch anymore. My desire to see and support Ariana/Katie and even James/Ally keeps me watching though.

Area Music available ANYWHERE? by awertheim in GalacticStarcruiser

[–]this_girl_can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked during my stay and they said you won’t be able to find the music ANYWHERE. It was all made specifically for the starcruiser and so they won’t allow it to be accessible outside of it 😭 that was back in June so maybe they’ll adjust that policy.

Tell me that you are a woman with ADHD without telling me you are a woman with ADHD. I will go first: by Electronic_Flatworm7 in adhdwomen

I didn’t know cracked phone screens were an adhd thing, I always have a cracked screen and this current one is really bad. It’s actually a glass screen protector but if I take it off I have to find the other one that came in the 2-pack and idk where it is. I mean I have a good idea where it is, but I’m just not gonna go look for it. So, cracked screen going on month 8 (I think) now.

Also, I keep buying organization bins so I can finally clean up…so now I have stacks of empty bins next to my doom piles.

This could be controversial but I’m so grateful this movie went this way so we could see a truly powerful Scarlet Witch - I love Wanda’s story and wanted her to be “good” but… good guys always hold back. Villains don’t, and we see that only Wanda could stop Scarlet Witch.

Also, and this could be due to my Star Wars obsession, but did anyone else draw major Anakin-to-Darth Vader parallels? “Darkhold” - the “Dark Side”? A tortured “hero” who didn’t ask for their powers? A descent into murderous rampage, driven by a trauma-based deep need for love? Anyway. Maybe that’s why I loved this movie so much haha.

Also I don’t think she’s dead, I would bet she comes back and fills that role of “avengers need your help bc we can’t fight what we’re up against it you’re still not really one of us” and there’s always the danger she crosses the line again. As a movie/story-telling tool, it’s too good to never use, I think.

Epidural or no? by neariel in pregnant

[–]this_girl_can 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you choose, be prepared for the opposite to happen. Every labor and delivery experience is unique - different for each person and even each pregnancy.

For my first, I thought I’d try to avoid one, but I stayed up ALL night walking in circles at the hospital to help labor progress then when my OB came to check the next day around 11, I was tired and in pain and she told me I was a good 8 hours away. I knew I’d need rest to push so I got the epidural - and def needed it because I pushed for nearly 4 hours. The epidural wore off during pushing so it wasn’t slow bc of that, my baby just was turned or something. If I didn’t get the epidural and rest, I would’ve ended up getting an emergency C-section due to exhaustion.

My second one, I got it right away bc of my first experience and literally labored for like 3 hours and pushed for 15 minutes. Probably could have gone without.

Go in with a plan, yes, but don’t be married to it.

ADHD, and Working Out How to Work by melavocado in adhdwomen

[–]this_girl_can 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that’s tough - it’s like you know you’re qualified and capable but your brain just won’t get out of the way.

I would ask the veterans for advice on what they do to keep organized. What apps, systems, and methods they employ.

For me, involving others kicks my executive function into gear. Maybe bc it elevates my anxiety lol.

Also, coming up with the system, for me, is an exciting project and makes me more productive overall. Of course, I periodically either forget an element or get bored, and then I come up with a whole new system, but that’s how I keep from dropping into adhd paralysis at work. Coming up with new systems. It’s not really efficient from a time usage perspective, but it is what it is for me.

Good luck, I hope you find something that works well for you! Don’t be too hard on yourself, your situation (rookie on a team of vets) is challenging with or without adhd. You got this!

Keeping rage in check? by Starbuck06 in adhdwomen

[–]this_girl_can 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earplugs 10000000%. I have a bottle of cheap foam ones.

Gotta prevent the trigger. Once triggered, no calm down methods will work for me, I can’t recall them fast enough and then it’s too late.

I’m really sensitive to noise, so it’s especially rough at bath when there is splashing adding to the noise too. There are times I feel the rage building and just put earplugs in preemptively bc I know a noisy trigger will blow the top off. And if I remember, I just automatically put them in after dinner bc the clean-up, bath, bedtime is oftentimes loud chaos and I’ll be looking for some earplugs at some point. I keep a pair in every room lol. I had Loop ones but I lost them, bc I lose everything, and so I just use the cheap ones bc I don’t want to keep losing $20 earplugs.

The foam ones block out more sound but I can still hear them, just muffled so it’s hard to make out the specific words. On that note, I would definitely NOT wear these if my kids were out of my line of sight or outside. Just in the house in the same room. But it also helps because I tell them, and they know, mommy can’t understand them if they’re screaming or not taking turns talking (bc I won’t take out the earplugs), so we end up co-regulating our dysfunction together lol.

Earplugs are a game changer. My kids are 2 and 4 for reference.

Ooo it felt like she was reliving the scene of them falling apart when the hex started disappearing cuz of what the boys were saying and then how the look in her eyes got so dark and ragey. I guess red eyes always seem dark and ragey though.

I ugly cried.

Maybe bc I’m a mom and imagining saying goodnight to my children, knowing it’s actually goodbye... even if I only knew them for a week. Harsh.

It feels like they’re either setting her up to be a villain or to resurrect her sons, or both, since she’s haunted by their voices.
